“I've always loved the Wiener schnitzel in there with Spaetzle or French Fries. Good grub if you like German Food. They brew their beer themselves. Has a wonderful view of the Puxi riverfront. Although massively overpriced. ”

Address: XinTianDi

“service & music are good but the taste of foods is unstable, it's up to your luck. If you like drinking beer, going there is the right place, try wheat beer”

Name: Puxi's
Address: behind the Carrefour in JingQiao, spreading over two floors

“Well hidden from the folks down at the wrong side of the river, it is the bigger version of downtowns Blue Frog. Western and Asian dishes, liked the food very much, reasonably priced. Drinks at regular prices, happy hour is from 4-8 I think. It’s going to be good as soon as it gets warmer, massive outside area and a little balcony on the 2nd floor.”

Hot

Name: Abalone

carrol
“It was one of the most satisfying meals I've had in Shanghai thus far... the food was absolutely delicious!”
moche
“Curry is not as spicy as indian food should be (already asked for very spicy one) but Indian breads like Nan, Parota, Roti are soooo good”
bluecheese
“Only had their buffet. Once. It’s cheap and filling. And unlimited beer. That’s the best I can say about their food. I'll eat there only if my friends are going”

“I've always loved the Wiener schnitzel in there with Spaetzle or French Fries. Good grub if you like German Food. They brew their beer themselves. Has a wonderful view of the Puxi riverfront. Although massively overpriced. A Schnitzel comes at around 90RMB if I remember correctly and the half liter beer comes for 68RMB.”

Si-Chuan Foods: Between Hell and Salvation

Name: South Beauty
Address: located in a tall building next to Times Square, the same building as the Scholar's Bookstore, 4 floors up
Comments:
Serend
“Reasons I recommend this place for your first experience are:
1. It offers the so-called "reformed Si-Chuanese". Or rather, what we may call "fusion" Si-Chuanese style. Not too spicy. And the echef is used to requests for a tone-down and won't get offended.
2. It has both Si-chuanese and Cantonese dishes on the menu, so you may order a few of each for a balanced palate.
3. The cooking is quite good in its own right.
Tips: you may want to go with a few people. I would say 3 minimum. That way you have room to "diversify”
moche
“Service & Foods & atmosphere are great”
DragonAss
“good entertaining for dining in with guests. It's pricey but quite worth the price. I love salted duck egg, cooked with tofu. I know how scary it sounds for my colesterol level ”

“very good and very cheap (around 50rmb per person) - if you don’t need "fa piao" (receipt) they can even discount more!”

Italian

Name: Da Marco
Address: Dong Zhu An Bang Lu
Comments:
MichaelT
“Da Marcos is great! The food is what I'd expect if I walk into a good Italian restaurant in California and the owner is Italian himself. The prices are pricey for Shanghai but they are fair if the restaurant was in US”
bellabella
“bland and overpriced”
dfoo
“It is for sure one of the best italian restaurants I've ever been in. The place is always very full so if you want to go you should make a reservation. I find the food there incredible”
Michael
“I thought it was pretty good and a good value. IN a couple cases, I thought the portions were actually too large”
thewalrus
“Da Marco is a fair place, not great but not bad. The pizza is ok - not a patch on pizza in Italy but you can't complain.”
DragonAss
“For my fun Italian dining, I won’t compare it to Isolabella or Va Bene. Da Marco is simply not in their league. But if I have to compare it with Jimix, Da Marco still wins me... ”

Name: Trattoria Isabelle
Address: 139 Xing'An lu by Yandang lu
Comments:
cks60
“ambiance is nice. But the menu never changes, the food is sub-par and the wine is overpriced. There really isn't good Italian food here unless you're willing to lose your wallet.”
bellabella
“a lovely Italian restaurant. It is set in an old house on three floors and is perfect for a romantic meal. The food is really good there too.”

Name: Pasta Fresca Da Salvatore
Address: Hengshan Lu
Comments:
carrol
“The food was delicious, real Italian, at last. Found the dishes expensive and the portions small, but will still go again because they have 'the flavour' ...”
giacomodolce
“Not bad and not terribly expensive Trattoria style Italian. It's a pretty good value.”
frenchlover1999
“I think Salvatore is very reasonably priced”
