How to travel:

Traveling is more than physical going out of your turf; instead, it is the going away of your very innermost soul. When you are traveling, throw away all the pressure and stress from you daily work or chores; fully enjoy the beauty of another exotic place.

I have been touring and backpacking all over for the past 3 years. Luxurious resorts, relaxing spots, depressing killing fields, dangerous zones, high sea level mounts, exotic wilderness, walking among the national rioters, etc. The more I have been to, the further I want to explore. Don't carry too much stuff with you. I have never brought with me more than one backpack. Just toss in loads of old T-shirts and sneakers and one set of nice outfit. After one day strenuous rock-climbing or kayaking, I won't feel any guilt to throw away my ripped shirts and sneakers. Get back, take a nice hot shower, put on my lovely black dress and heels, and indulge myself in a lovely local restaurant and a cool bar.

The highlight about traveling, other than challenging your physical condition, is to meet new friends from all over the world. We will share a big backpack guesthouse and scramble our eggs together every morning. Chitchat into the small hours, or naked sunbathing on the roof. There are so many interesting people you can hang out with, listen to their fascinating stories and share your experience of the wild adventure.

Traveling isn't just going there and taking a bunch of pictures to show off when you get back. Personally I seldom take photos; however, I will never forget any single view from my trip. I can still feel with all my senses, the astonishing blue of the lake, the cutting through the clouds (6500 meters high), the fresh tasty spring water, the peaceful and tranquil forest, I can go on and on about them.

All in all, go out with your heart, your eyes, your ears, all your senses and have a spiritual pampering of your mind!

Where to find train schedules:

* This is a useful link to check the train schedules. http://english.ctrip.com/html/help/train_timetable/shanghai.htm
* Shanghai soft train ticket office on 121 Xizang Road South is a good place to buy soft train ticket and to avoid the crowds. Open hour: 08:00-20:00 everyday.

Where to buy plane tickets:

These are two major travel agencies that most Chinese buy plane tickets from.

Where to go:

If you don't like traveling with thousands of (even more) tourists then try not go to Beijing, Xian, Guilin, etc during the golden holiday. If you are looking for a unique and peaceful holiday we have some great travel destinations to recommend to you. Those are the most popular trips according to feedback from YANA clients allover the world.

Hakka Building in Fujian: The traditional residential buildings in the western part of Fujian Province in south China- Hakka Earth Buildings are named by the UNESCO as the eighth world wonder.

Guizhou Minority: The scenery will take your breath away and you will surely have lasting memories of the unspoiled beauty of its people, mountains and valleys. The minority people there are still living as hundreds of years ago. You will feel like going to another planet where you are there!

4WD Sichuan To Tibet: This is an epic journey through Sichuan, across the Tibetan Plateau to Lhasa. It has attracted explorers and adventurers, pilgrims, traders, and even missionaries for hundreds of years. If you are a fan of Tibetan culture this would a great trip while Tibet becomes so crowded after the train is built.

Yuanyang Terraces in Yunnan: Endless terraces and colorful minority culture will surly make this trip unforgettable! You will be shocked at how huge the terraces are!

Trekking in Mt. Gongga, Sichuan: Known as King of mountains in Sichuan, the Gongga Mountain, 7556 meters above sea level, is situated east of the Tibet and west of the Sichuan. Xinduqiao, a town near Mt. Gongga, is regarded as the heaven for photographers.

Retreat in Monastery near Shanghai: To create a monastery environment during your time together, and to offer you an opportunity to explore the Dhamma in a setting that differs somewhat from a typical meditation retreat.
