Whether you love football or formula 1,
basketball or badminton,
here’s where to go and watch your favorite team.
Expats may enjoy the sweet life here in Shanghai, but there are still certain things we miss from back home.Specifically, sporting events! As we work here on the other side of the world, we miss rooting for our favorite teams.
But not to worry sports fans. Shanghai has a thriving number of sports bars, standing ready for you to saunter in, grab a sandwich and a pint, and cheer your team on to victory. With the familiar interiors and sports memorabilia at manylocations, once you sit down and get engrossed watching your team play, you’ll feel just as though you’reright back home at your corner sports bar.
All the Shanghai sports bars surveyed were found to be very accomodating. Staff are willing to scan through their satellite channels to find the exact game you wish to watch, provided you give them enough advance notice. All have food available to munch down during the games, and can make arrangements for private parties of varying sizes. With game times for live football matches often in the middle of the night Shanghai time, some bars will even record certain games for playback the following evening.
Whether you’re a fan of football or formula 1, basketball or badminton, you don’t have to miss out on watching your favorite sport. If it’s on the airwaves it can be located on the satellite systems found at many of the sports bars here. Contact information is provided for each location, so call ahead for details on specific game times.
