Killabees 2.0 – Partylog

By Shrek

Saturday night was a night of sexy ladies, and good hip-hop. 1.6 Killabees , the second edition, came out to BonBon this past Saturday night and put on a fun Hip hop show. Andrew Ballen and his crew, along with DJ Motiv8 put on a great party. It was definitely kickin’. But all that time, maybe the show was not Andrew Ballen and his crew rappin’ to the crowd trying to hype everyone up.

Maybe the real show was on the floor and the stage where the guests were. It felt like a real hip-hop show in Shanghai, except the posers in baseball caps too new to be “street” and some of the wannabe gangstas that had the gear but no attitude. Yet in looking back, the presence of these folks was entertaining in itself, One “hip” Chinese kid had on a baby-blue outfit, donning chains and a baseball cap WAY to clean to be “street” provided the funniest scene as he tried to light up with his “girl” only to find he didn’t have a lighter. Used a tabletop tea-light to light his and then proceeded to do a cigarette tip “kiss” with his gal, trying to get it lit. Maybe you had to be there, but it was the best laugh for all around who watched.

But the show it self was cool. Was nice to go and get a good range of old-skool and new skool rap along with some really danceable rhythm and beat. The crowd was into it, especially combined with the “open-bar” event BonBon was offering. Not everyone was convinced it was “all that” though as one of the crew just did not measure up quite as well as the rest. One expat looked up on the DJ platform and commented, “Yo, whas’up with the Dalai Lama with the baseball cap anyways?”

Another commented on that same crewmember’s moves stating, “Damn, I know 40 year old factory managers that scratch themselves like that in public and can move better fer sure!” He continued, “ its like he’s doing the ‘YMCA’ (dance) but only knows how to do the ‘Y’ part!”

To give him credit though, his best lines were “Heeeeey, Hoooooo, heeyyyy, hoooo, hey, hey, ho, ho…” which almost seemed appropriate as some of the amateur sexy dancers took to the stage.

The Sexy Dancer contest went without a hitch with six lovely models movin’ and groovin’ before the amateurs were invited up. The rules were simple, if the crowd liked the pros, Andrew kept his prize money, but if the amateurs won, they won 2000rmb. In the end, with Andrew lickin’ his chops, the sexy amateurs took the prize, with certain dancers really working the crowd!

Missed out on a second wet T contest but word has it was aiight!

Looking forward to the next show. Peace.
