Bohdi's "Relaxing" Bike Trip

"Hint" is Shanghai's latest and most practical expat magazine. It can be picked up at restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, hotels, spas, schools and real estate agencies across Shanghai.
Shanghai's Bohdi Bikes excursions: You're on your mountain bike, the sun is out, the birds are flyin', the rice patties, bridges and fisheries are whizzin' by, local villagers are waving and smiling at you, and you're seeing a part of the area around Shanghai you couldn't otherwise access. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Such as it was for me on a Bohdi Bikes day trip ride at Xicun.

People living in Shanghai (myself) tend to get caught up in the fast paced lifestyle and rarely take the time or energy needed to do something a bit different from the routine. But once you get on a bike and start riding around the countryside where there are no screeching brakes, taxis threatening to maul you, or various suspect substances raining down from above, you realize you're missing out.
A Bohdi bike trip starts off at Bohdi headquarters where the riders all meet up, grab their sandwiches, plop down in the van and head out to a destination. Our group was a mix of nationalities including an American (myself again), Israelis, Chinese, Australians, and Germans with ages ranging from 12 to about 60. Everybody was friendly enough, even at 9 a.m. on a Sunday.
