2008 Royal & Sunalliance Jinqiao 8K Series On Sunday April 20th runners will be on the marks ready for the 2008 Royal & Sunalliance Jinqiao 8k. The 7th race in the Jinqiao Running Series will once again bring families, friends and major corporations together for a day of fun, team building and exercise. With over 15,000 to date crossing over the line in Jinqiao there is no doubt that this has become a keenly anticipated event for the both companies and the community at large. Indeed many people return time and again to break their own Jinqiao record. This year sees the launch of our new running category, the Corporate Relay. Tried and tested in Forest Park in November last year, organizers are confident that this will fast become a huge hit in Jinqiao. This is bound to trigger a competitive and fierce match up between companies. As well as the Corporate Relay, the usual 8k and 2k races, fantastic on stage performances, interactive games, the lucky draw and firm favorite, the fancy dress will all be present. Warm-up exercises play an important role in training and as always will be a key aspect prior to the race. In order to promote running, and a healthy attitude to life, organizers S2M Group will be holding Royal & Sun Alliance Running Clinics with any companies interested in the wealth fare of their employees. These are designed to teach people to take the right running precautions, to prevent and treat common sports injuries and to quickly recover after the race. In addition, there has always been a strong charity component to the race and this year 10% of the total registration fee will be donated to Special Olympics China. This event has received huge support from Royal & SunAlliance, celebrating it's 3rd year as title sponsor of the 8K series. Meanwhile, the organizers S2M Group have also attracted many more famous brands like Decathlon, Ford, Element Fresh, Megafit, ICS, Pocari Sweat, ParkwayHealth, Holiday Inn, Cityweekend, and Shanghai Star. Mike Jakeman, CEO of Royal & Sunalliance Insurance Co. Shanghai Branch, as well as a triathlon avid participator, stated that "getting more people active and engaged through running is an important reason for our sponsorship". Mark Thomas, Managing Director of S2M Group, said of the race "Running is the easiest sport to participate in, you need no equipment, it is open to all age groups and all people from age 8~80 all can get to it. 8K is an appropriate length for all ages, and ‘8' is also a lucky number in China. The event is firmly established in the community, indicated by the huge growth in numbers over the years." Passionate, fun, teamwork and lifestyle, all those embody the 8K running series and gives us every reason to take part. So let's run for health!
