Restored Faith
Few weeks ago, I accidently dropped my phone in the taxi I was in. This particular driver had only been driving for about a week and knew not where he was going but i guided him through and he was very grateful and happy when we finally got to my destination.
After a short time I realised that my phone was missing and thought originally, that someone had pinched it from my bag as my wallet had been previously pinched albeit 1 year prior. So I rang and organised for someone to help me at the police station and organised part of the insurance claim and so on and even went as far as going to look at new phones. Luckily - none suited me...
When I got home my friend called me and said to me, "You know they found your phone, right?" I was completely dumbfounded. This lovely taxi driver had been trying my home number and then my friend. After I told him in my broken chinese where I lived, he then offered to bring it to me. Of course I gave him a decent tip as a thank you, which he at first declined but then I just put it in his pocket. I was so grateful and what a lovely way of having my faith in people's decency and honesty restored.
Wouldn't it be great if there were more of these kinds of stories around?
So - Thank you!
