1. Solar Electricity
The Pavilion features a 2,200m2 solar heat-collecting tube screen on the roof. This screen can collect solar energy to produce hot water up to 95°C. Ultra-low temperature power generation, a novel way to generate electricity through solar power, and produces an output as high as 200kW. The power generated using this technology can be used for both the exposition and for every day. When the “Dream Cube” is illuminated by LED, it shimmers and glitters in a mesmerizing, magical display.
2. Plastic Materials
China produces nearly 140 million tons of waste plastics every year, and only 25% of them are reclaimed and recycled. Take CDs for example. According to incomplete statistics, more than 30 million waste CDs are produced in Shanghai each year. If these CDs were reclaimed and washed, they could be used to produce polycarbonate granules and manufacture more polycarbonate plastic products. The external facade materials of the Shanghai Corporate Pavilion will use polycarbonate transparent plastic tubes to create its dreamlike appearance. After the Expo, such plastic tubes can be easily recycled to reduce energy consumption.
3. Water/Mist

For the pavilion, rainwater will be collected and recycled. After such treatment as sedimentation, filtration and storage, rainwater can be used for daily purposes at the pavilion and for the “mist” in particular. The mist can lower the temperature, purify the air and create a small comfortable climate. The spray can also be used to form various patterns on the building surfaces and make the overall appearance of the Shanghai Corporate Pavilion fresh and elegant.
“The People’s Archive” Campaign
One thing also worth mentioned is the Shanghai Corporate Pavilion photo submission campaign, which called “The People’s Archive”, With a unique solicitation approach and creative assignments, it provides a platform for anyone who is interested in contributing his or her work and showing off his or her talent to participate in the design and building of the “Dream Cube.” The public can create their own works on the specified assignments and upload them to the Dream Cube’s website (www.expo2010scp.com). All uploaded submissions will be reviewed by a jury of artists and photographers, selected works will be integrated into the close-to-20-minute experience of the “Dream Cube.”
