Its four days after our Thanksgiving feast (we were a bit late, due to a number of people including me traveling) and I am still eating turkey leftovers. It was a great open faced turkey sandwich from what was left over from an international Thanksgiving dinner. A few of us motivated people who have come together through the website decided to pool our cooking talent and resources and come with a dinner celebration. Even though the Thanksgiving is thought of as a North American holiday, the turnout was far from American. It was just a good reason to cook a turkey and have a feast.

A feast it was. We picked an 8 kg turkey from City Shopper. I baked the turkey and some pumpkin bread as I was the one with the oven. Maple provided the place and most of the delicious side dishes and desserts. Xtasia did all the organizing and communicating. It was a mostly traditional menu including turkey with apple pecan stuffing, pumpkin rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy, braised veggies, salads, cranberry sauce, and a very fancy cake plus a strawberry and cream dessert. Sorry...no pumpkin pie.
A few of the folks had never done a real Thanksgiving feast before. We talked about its authenticity. The only thing missing was the football games on TV and maybe the pumpkin pie. I have no regrets.
It was good people and a fun gathering. Lively conversation. Thanks so much to Kay (CA) with daughter Jacklyn, and Roslina (NZ) for being the instigators. Thanks to the folks who joined us.. Lei Feng (UK), Graham Thompson (UK), Ben T (US), Aimee (PI), Brad (US), Andrew (US), David (US), and Justin (CN). We are looking forward to Christmas!

Thanks to Lei Feng for the pictures!
