What is the best way to get from Pudong International Airport to downtown Shanghai?
Since the opening of Pudong Airport (about an hour from downtown) most of the international arrivals and departures have been moved there. It is a beautiful, spacious, and not-very-crowded facility. The ongoing gripe is "Why did they have to build it so far from the city?" As folks in dozens of other large cities around world know, it is probably that no one wants a new international airport built in their backyard.
As for how to get there and back...

Taxi
Taxis are readily available outside the luggage claim, and expect to be accosted by taxi drivers as you pass through. The cost is around 120-150 RMB, though it should be possible to haggle, since there's a lot of competition for customers.
Maglev
By far the quickest way, and not as expensive as a taxi, is the
MagLev, which departs from the airport every 20 minutes from 8:30am until 5:30pm. The trip to Longyang Station takes around 30 minutes and costs 50 RMB for a one way trip and 80 RMB for a return. Passengers who have a flight on the same day can get a 20% discount on a one way ticket. VIP tickets are also available at double the above prices.
