| Post subject: American and British schools in Shanghai |
Hi all,
I am hoping someone might have some information on the American Schools in Shanghai. I have done the preliminary research, but want to hear the good/bad from someone who may have children there.
We are thinking about moving to shanghai in January, and I have a 12/10/8 year old children (boy/girl/girl). We've lived in Taiwan, Hong Kong and England, and we're Americans. Our Mandarin is rusty but functioning and we thought it would be a great experience to bring the kids back to Asia for a brief experience before we have to finally "settle down". Any experiences good/bad with either the American schools ? |

Shanghai American School in Puxi is pretty much full with a waiting list, though there are some openings at the Pudong campus - their website has a grade by grade list of openings and as of 8/24 1st, 3rd and 5th grades were full - of course you should call to confirm. |

thanks, yes I've checked all that, but what I want to know is the "inside" scoop if you will. What are the teachers like, is the school well organized, how is the headmaster, are the sport good etc. |

SAS would be the best school in Shanghai - reflected in it's waiting lists. Changning, Concordia and Livingston also use American curriculums. The former two are well established and seem to have a good reputation. The latter is new and I don't know much about. I recommend a prior visit to check out the schools and surrounding places to live. |
