A separate section for English teachers where they can discuss their favourite issues such as (1) Is it easy to get a teaching job in Shanghai (2) Is it true I can earn 20,000 RMB per month without any qualifications (3) It's amazing here, I just feel so special - please discuss me (4) Can I teach on an L visa. |

What about an embedded google shexpat user map? shexpat members could be allowed to contribute (or you sync approved contributer's maps to shexpat's)? Google map is now supporting videos, photos and wikipedia. Best of all it's free.
Edit - so, I see you've got the embedded google map - my bad - well, it can still be pumped up with user contributions and adding the video and pictures. |

Suggestions:
locking posts that are a zillion years old and have no value anymore.
sometimes using the search function can pose problems. For example, after clicking on a thread it will display in plain text rather than the regular coding format. It is text only and won't let you reply/respond etc.
ban nathalie
a cleaner look would be nice. Maybe code with CSS, or something a little more Web 2.0. The coding of this website is outdated.
make it easier to format text. A WYSIWYG text editor would be great.
Outside of the forum there is too much extra stuff. I would suggest the erroneous info be eliminated or organized better. I'm sure 80% or more users use the forum only. Some of the articles are great. The job site is AmCham's system, right? Also, the personals are from World Friends.
If everything was a little more organized, it would be easier to navigate the site. If all the info was cataloged better, it would be much easier on the eyes. Notice the repetition?
All in all it's a great site. Great info, just needs spring cleaning and a change of look. |

A private forum for established/real expats would be helpful. The whole basis of a forum is that those who care to look and participate can, and those who don't want to can ignore it. A PM or Skype system would obviously force everyone to participate all the time, which is definitely not what I want.
I just want to have at least one forum where when I post something and get trolled, at least I know it's by legitimate established expats. =P
And I second (or possibly 5th or 6th) banning nathalie forever. =P |

- Have a function where it allows each account user to pull down the forums (open chat, travel, food etc) they are interested in and hide the forums they do not read.
- Allow us to edit colours etc without previewing the post.
