They have been happening every Saturday since June of 2007. What could possibly make you think they would no longer be happening? |

As I no longer attend, I have heard that they are thinking of dropping it altogether....no longer a good reason to go.
I have also hard that Malone's will be reneging on the Wednesday Night Mixer...
Dramatic reduction in beer volume sales....same root cause

Since you've even bothered to write something here, it means there is still a sliver of hope! Please, grace us with your presence O Great One! |

Ah, sure does explain the booming attendance as of late with more than 20 attending the post coffee lunch alone! SEE, I TOLD YOU that if you'd shower people would like you more!
Yes yes, we still do this everyweek, hosted or not, this group has its own energy and dynamic. I hope InYoUrDrEaMs07 gets that cap lock key fixed soon as it woudl be really confusing to read...
See you all tomorrow. |

Its like Ground Hog day. If p1at10 doesn't bath on August 1st then there's 6 more weeks of bad pollution and humidity in Shanghai. not sure what it means now he's not here. |

There are 2 requirements for you to be able to join, meet people and make friends:
1) Be able to find the venue and if you can't do that, I am sure someone can help you with directions.
2) Get there during the times the group meets. Times are posted and not the same for Saturday & Sunday. |

Hello! Just joined shanghaiexpat.com like... 5 minutes ago, though I've been on the jobs part of the site for months now. I'm hoping to know more about this event, whether the time or place has changed, and how does it usually run. Do we just huddle in a huge circle and listen to each others' stories or branch into little groups or something? Also, if it's not too inappropriate to ask, what kind of age group does this event usually draw? I might feel a bit awkward if I'm one of the youngest people there without much to relate to all of your success stories here in Shanghai... Thanks in advance! |

Time and place never change.
It runs just fine.
Saturday more linear format because room is rectangular so you will sit at one table and probably only converse with people quite near you. You can, of course move from one part of the room to another.
Sunday usually groups of 4-5 each, around several tables.
You can tell a story if you wish, ask questions, just generally chat with the people around you. You will mostly interact with the 4-6 people nearest to you.
Ages range from students about 18 to older people up to almost 70. Mixture of academics, business, and arts amongst the group. Most are there just to make friends and enjoy friendships.
Saturday is mostly people that appear on a regular basis, but not necessarily every week.
Sunday is a more transient group of people that come and go. |

I have already written to The Director-General of the BBC demanding to know why this measure was made public by the Prime Minister (during his Gracious Address to the House), in violation of the clearly accepted procedure (which began in America) of a State Leak by the Noble Lord, the Deputy Prime Minister, to Robert Peston. |
o.O is there something more to this mixer than I know? |
