I've seen folks take their bike on the public ferry. (can use the metro card to pay)

there are two ferry docks from the puxi side that go to pudong. unfortunately i only know them by memory, not by road. the main one (i think) is pretty close to yuyuan. head towards zhongshan lu from there and it is pretty hard to miss. the other may well be at the fuxing lu intersection.

there are several ferry crossings... simply watch where riders ride too near the river, especially at peak times of the day Wink

using MRT card is one way, but its just as easy to go up to the ticket office, buy your ticket (a little plastic coin) which you then throw into the ticket collection bin at the entrance of each ferry terminal...
just watch the masses and you will get the idea...

i used to use the ferry all the time to take my bicycle or motorbike across between puxi and pudong when i lived in shangers... (4 years ago now).

hint - if you have a folding bike, just simply fold it and carry it and you only pay for passenger... but its cheap as regardless...

one of the central ferry terminals used to be just down from zhongshan dong yi lu near zhongshan dong er lu... around where the world expo area is now...

Thanks for the help. There is no way to ride across?
Google Maps is telling me I can walk across Nenjiang Bridge, does that mean I can bike there as well?

^haha. No you cannot ride across. No Tunnels or Bridges allows, bikes, motorbikes, scooters, prams, or anything that is not a car cross. But bare in mind I did once see a motorbike ride on the Lupu bridge. Brave man. I personally have done the ferry crossing on my motorbike, it was great. Just like sinned said follow the masses near the bunds. It was pretty easy.

I do a long ride with friends on Sundays (~75km), which usually includes a Puxi to Pudong leg... Have yet to find a way to ride across.

As noted above, easiest way is via ferry from Dongmen Lu (near Yu Yuan) or another (can't think of the street name) that's almost directly under the Nanpu bridge. There are many other crossings to choose from.

what about the bund sightseeing tunnel between the bund and the oriental pearl tv tower? can you take a bike through there? i have never walked through it, so i wouldn't know.

the bund sightseeing tunnel does not allow pedestrian access> you actually take a small enclosed vehicle through the tunnel from one side to the other
