Hi SatelliteTV,

I am a bit confused. Is the package you showed with all the channels in your previous post 3050RMB for a 12 month subscription? Also as previously asked what would the annual subsription fee be after the first 12 months.

NO those channels are what Vinya paid for US$1430 with hardware setup and US$1200 a year.

These are legitimate subscription services from DSTV and THAI satellites with Australia Network added in for free.

Dream TV does not have the movies ( hallmark and star movies only ) and no sports.

Those channels listed are on my MPEG4 IPTV service.

Alternative TV packages,
1. replace old box with Genuine dream crystal Box and smart card
2. HKC from Hongkong. This package will upgrade to new encryption system like Dream have done.
3. DSTV and it needs a big dish around 1.8 m.
4. CBTV package using dm500 or original smart card.
5.IPTV with only 1M bandwidth is needed for the IPTV Set-Top-Box and this box can be used in and out of China.

I can also watch my satellite anywhere from my DM800 - although I mostly use it from the iMac in the bedroom.

VLC streaming + web remote control works great.
That + a dynamic dns service = tv anywhere.

I'm more into playing with all the tech, rather than the watching tv side of things though!

I've checked, and the DM's can do Nagra3, so a legit card would be usable.

The cutoff date for Dream TV to Nagra3 is apparently July 20th (according to the philsat forums).
There are still plenty of other providers on that satellite though that are watchable.
Strangely, I can still see all the channels that my friends using their Bolt box can't, so it appears the card sharing is still working for that.

I'm not bothered if Dream works or not though, i get better channels on different satellites, with better quality images!

Which version of Nagra3, they are not the same.

Just like DM's can hack NDS but Astro Malaysia last year changed NDS version and all the DM boxes lost their card sharing on Astro and havent been able to get them wokring again. Same for Auroras Irdeto package in Australia, changes made all the dm boxes no service.

If you want to show DM's can open Dream TV's Nagra3 cards get one then show it's working.

After all the N3 cards have been available for a year now why would the pirate companies not have it hacked and be selling dm's with Dream TV now instead of rushing off to say all the non working boxes have to be
"upgraded" to genuine decoders ROFL.

THanks Mr SatTV for the price update.

1) So, 3050rmb for the 1st year. DOes that include all installation, equipment, everything?

2) After the first 12mths, what the price for every 12mths after that.....it shouldn't be the same price each year.....or is it>?

3) From now on, the "New DreamTV" no longer includes many of the most popular channels, is that correct??

Regards,

Does not include dish. As I wrote, new decoder with 12 months subscription rmb 3050 delivered to your door. Nowhere does that mention a dish installation.

Current renewal from Philsatcorp ( this is not my company ) is RMB2400 a year.

No HBO STAR MOVIES ESPN STAR BEN SPORTS and other channels.
Who can say what the prices will be in future. All I can say is that last year companies like dreamsatellite.com were charging 8000rmb for a dream tv system with a legitimate box after posing as an official agent.

Prices are now cheaper. Not as cheap as in Manila but then again the decoders from agents buying in Manila and not CHina have to smuggle the decoders in and pay their own freight. Philsatcorp manufacture the Crystal boxes.

Perhaps now that two of the most popular pirated satellites Dream TV and next month HKSAT ( so all those who just paid 3000rmb for HKSAT... sorry to say next month you too have no channels on pirate DM decoders) some people may just decide that paid subscriptions are the way to go.

China is only a very small but growing market for my IPTV services.

So true. I admit I was wrong of hating it for first few days (reason: wrong cord from pc to TV). I apologize for being harsh. You saved me from looking around Shanghai for a father's day gift to my hubby. Cheers!

Okay. Now I think I understand why landlord had a pirate system installed. Is there a legit system that includes ESPN (all my hubbie cares about)? He's fuming and threatening legal action. He's pretty high up on the food chain in his company and cannot risk being part of anything suspect.

@Mouseling, if he can't be part of anything suspect, then you probably *cannot* have satellite, as its illegal for most people in Shanghai.

There are some exceptions
If you are a consular officer, its possible in a private residence.
If you live in a compound with > 80% foreigners, you can apply for a licence to install a satellite. Once you receive the licence you may install satellite.

Other exceptions -
If you live on a military or government owned compound, then you are allowed to install.

Given that foreigners are strictly forbidden from living within 500m of the first one, and the second one is highly unlikely as a foreigner, I'd say those 2 are irrelevant!

The relevant government posts on those are below:

I'll have to check mine again tonight, but I still had all the channels available last time I looked.
Mind you, I'm not doing things the same way everyone else is!

Sue who? You cannot sue just because a provider removes a channel from the broadcast package. Any broadcaster has the right to change any channel at any time without prior notice.

Sure there is a legit system. You can get ESPN on cable TV.

Or he can get the EPSN USA and ESPN THAILAND that we have on our MPEG4 IPTV systems. More importantly what content is he trying to watch? The IPTV system is legal. AS you dont have an illegal dish.

The channels are all there and working fine on genuine decoders.

There have been so many threads and messages on Dream TV how could you have not known about having a pirate box from HBOCN. You never paid subscriptions to Dream TV, just to HBOCN for a pirate box.

Pretty much the only semi-legal way to get international TV here for most is streaming.
Even that is slightly suspect due to Chinese law, but nothing is ever clear here.

/Laughing at the complaints that the people with pirate systems are losing channels.
You get what you (don't) pay for!

Not that paying for it here would be legal either. Satellite providers usually have licences for a given country, rather than blanket licence, hence the difficulty in getting legal cards for use outside of region.

Grey area though, and different thoughts on that..

Sorry to hear you had the wrong cable from PC to TV. Could have contacted me to ask.

I hope your hubby is happy now.

Yeah fair enough except when I arrived in Shanghai I looked at posts on the technology section of the website and was led to HBOCN - they looked legit and I thought the were up until later after the installation when this started to deteriorate. Bugger!

Out of interest what channels should I *not* be receiving on 146e / Dream since they moved to Nagra3?

I don't seem to be missing any channels on that satellite yet (everything decrypts fine).

Looked at a few of the regional satellite websites, and it looks like there are some new HD channels available on some of the satellites since last month - 108.2E has a couple of new HD channels, some of which would be quite watchable.

新天11号108.2°E 2组 12430 水平(H) 30000 12471 水平(H) 30000 开锁
132E also has some free to air HD currently on 11087 H 28125, thats been active since late May also.

You do need an HD capable decoder to watch though.
