Post subject: iPhone and email?

I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem? I have a legit unlocked iPhone from Australia, 16GB 3g and generally speaking has been working fine. I have updated to the V.3 software and yes had some issues but Apple in Australia sorted me out. The problem is until 1 month ago (before the upgrade) I had always been able to access my email over the wifi network (chinese email account) After doing nothing different this no longer works-ever! so I have enrolled to a cellular data scheme (China mobile) but still no good. Does anyone have a simple "do this then..." as to how the phone settings should be? I would appreciate any help or direction as to where I can take the phone and have done if needed. Thanks!

Settings, Network, Cellular Data Services,

APN: cmnet
User: cmnet

everything else leave blank.

If thats setup, then you can go online using GPRS (EDGE)

Thanks for that, I can now get the internet but unfortunately still can't access emails. I guess it must just be the way my account is setup or information entered. Will continue to try, thanks for the help!

I am having the same problem! Let me know if you find a solution. Also, do find the cellular data plan from China Mobile to be very expensive? I have been using wifi but I am thinking of switching to the data plan.

Data plan is expensive unless you get a plan (套餐)

They have plans from 5rmb up to 100RMB

The 50RMB one is usually adequate unless you do a lot of internet on the go.
Do not use GPRS without a plan, your bill will sky rocket. I had a bill of 1000RMB for a weekend away (sans plan).
And a friend had a bill for 16,000RMB!

So... just say no unless you need to.
