Here's a list of some films I've recently watched:

Coffee and Cigarettes - Despite some good performances, overall it's pretentious crap. 2/5

Somers Town - From director of This is England. Interesting short(ish) film. 4/5

A Perfect World - Old movie with Costner and Eastwood. My wife cried. 3/5

Gomora - Italian mafia movie which focuses on the more realistic (and depressing) side of crime. 5/5

Step Brothers - Will Ferrell being Will Ferrell. 4/5

30 Rock Season 3 - This show just keeps getting better. 5/5

The Never Ending Story - Not quite as good as I remember, but still a good story. 4/5

Duplicity - Film about corporate espionage. Watchable. 3/5

Angels and Demons - Like the book, this film's betters than Da Vinci, but the twists that were hidden in the book are completely apparent in the film, and all the suspense is missing. 2/5

Watchmen - 2nd watch of this superhero movie (better quality this time). It's a long film, and is basically Spiderman for the more intelligent. 4/5

John Rabe - Film about the "good" nazi who saved thousands in Nanjing. Plays the old tune that the Japanese are evil and must own up to everything. My opinion is that only once China stops rewriting their own (far worse) history, then they may be in a position to start lecturing other people about their own rewrites. Good film never the less. 4/5

Beyonce did good job

mmeh... until Beyonce and Ali Larter duke it out at the climax, this is one dull film - 4/10.

The Spirit.
The female characters are all drop-dead gorgeous in a Sin City way, but the story line is all over the place. Great-looking movie with less than memorable story - 4/10.

The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Abrupt ending. If you want to see all the cool special effects in this remake, just watch the trailer - 3.5/10.

Franklyn

A cross between Donnie Darko, Matrix and something out of Tim Burton.
Quite refreshing to watch.

3.5/5

Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen

5/5 for effects and entertainment

Knocked Up - 7.5/10
I chuckled some; I smiled a lot. Katherine Heigl is hot in this movie!

If you liked that you should see the original documentaries...the original and the second one they made using unseen footage. Grey Gardens and The Beales of Grey Gardens. At a Shanghai dvd store near you now...got mine a couple of weeks ago.

I watched 7 pounds the other night with Will Smith (well not WITH him......if only....sigh) but I really struggled with continuing to watch it after I realised what was going to happen.

Showed off this guy's enormous variation of talents though.

Sure is a clever but slightly sick storyline.

Fast & Furious 4 - 2.5/5

Dominic and O'Connor back a fairly ok action/racing adventure.. Amazing how those US muscle cars can pop a wheelie just like that! Laughing

"I Love You, Man" (2009)
http://movies.nytimes.com/2009/03/20/movies/20love.html

An OK guy movie, but shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttt, they go totally gonzo over 'Rush' (the 70's/80's band), and for 4 days now I can not get "Limelight" ('living in the limelight....') out of my head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(FIY - arguably Rush's best song, download it dude, and whip out your air guitar!)

Living on a lighted stage
Approaches the unreal
For those who think and feel
In touch with some reality
Beyond the gilded cage

Cast in this unlikely role,
Ill-equipped to act
With insufficient tact
One must put up barriers
To keep oneself intact

Living in the limelight
The universal dream
For those who wish to seem

Those who wish to be
Must put aside the alienation
Get on with the fascination
The real relation
The underlying theme

Living in a fisheye lens
Caught in the camera eye
I have no heart to lie
I cant pretend a stranger
Is a long-awaited friend

All the worlds indeed a stage
And we are merely players
Performers and portrayers
Each anothers audience
Outside the gilded cage

The Hurt Locker.

Easily the best film set in war-torn Iraq.

The Hurt Locker

Outstanding. The best war film since "Full Metal Jacket."
