i really dont think there is the so called common sense or it is only western sense, so dont ever mention about the words ILLOGIC when you in another country while we Chinese dont understand sometime think it is ILLOGIC in your LOGIC or the world be the same, but the world will never be the same, coz there is no one unified LOGIC before jugement day, and on that day, people realize what i am telling and smile to farewell. indigo power, blast!

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
- Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

don't understand why chinese locals like to use the word "fashionable" so much. the word has little relation to beauty. you can be fashionable and uggo at the same time, especially if ugly is fashionable - which by many foreigner opinions, is the case with chinese fashion.

much of current chinese fashion is hardly what many would call beautiful (ie. the poofy hairdos - literally and figuratively, the shorts with suspenders and stockings, the t-shirts with non-sensical english or fake brand names emblazoned across the front, etc).

i met quite a few good looking girls here.
1st one is the fan-bingbing star like one
2nd is the babyface digger mentality one
3rd one is the shanghai princess model one
4th and 5th i met but no relationships ones
6th one a dancer in a club, very pretty but i didn't meet her, the closest i got to her was she sold me a lollipop.
7th one is a cute 17yr old one...currently 19.. and will be going to her room this friday to see her new underwear she bought with MAI MUNNY.
and a couple of decent looking scholarly girls; a language learner english/japanese, a musician with big "xiong", and a journalist...

but the important thing is still haven't met the one i want to marry.

Shanghai is the financial centre, international city whatever but remember it's still within Mainland China, and it means any Mainlander can come to this city from anywhere without a visa. And it will be the same in ages to come...

But they need a Shanghai hukou to live there legally and enjoy any of the benefits of schooling etc. Go talk to the migrant workers who if they bring their children to Shanghai cannot get them educated. But without those migrant workers no buildings would be erected.

The Govt in Beijing introduced a form of job mobility several years ago. It said that people with degrees from outsode of Shanghai could come to Shanghai and work and get a Shanghai hukou. The Shanghai govt decided this was taking jobs away from Shainghai born and bred and put up barriers to prevent it.

and this is part of a reason China even with it's long history (or maybe because of it) will never be as united as many smaller countries (ie korea, japan...).

In shanghai you just have to mellow out as a foreginer, people here not live up to western standards or graces and to be honest why do they need to you are in China. I am a British Indian i get stared at constantly but Shanghai is not that bad. The young guys do think they are hard nuts but i just stare back and mumble away in English.
Being a Brtish Indian i travelled to India just once and find locals attitude a little arrogant and rude, but its India. This is probably another discussion i find if you are Asian born outside in UK or Canda, USA etc you always have some issues with locals of your parents country of birth. My friends and i have experienced it and has put us off going to Indian and maybe if your parents origins are Chinese then you may have similar experiences.
But hey chill if you have experience of working internationally enjoy it i think there is more postives than negatives.

It hasn't been proven whether she's Chinese, or anything for that matter. Lab tests are inconclusive.

The vast majority of Chinese believe that China is the best country in the world, has the best food, the best culture and has developed this far all on its own with little input from foreign countries and expatiates. In other words China would be exactly as it is now WITHOUT any foreign investment, training or manufacturing. This is the traditional conservative view held by the vast majority of Chinese.

Because Chinese see nothing wrong with the stupid illogical and lacking even common sense things here there is nothing really to improve. Blame the "Feed the Duck" education system here. No one thinks and no one is encouraged to think - this is normal and completely acceptable. This adds to the frustration of many expats who see the stupid illogical and lacking even common sense things and realise that there is nothing that can be done about it.

Hey, how did you know about the "vast majority of Chinese believe.." thing? Is that based on some solid date or just your guess?
"Because Chinese see nothing wrong with the stupid illogical and lacking even common sense things here there is nothing really to improve." Well, you even did bother to use "majority of Chinese"....Can I say it is "stupid logical thinking and lacking even commone sense" ?
Hey, too many words in your poster are showing your bias and not quite objective opinion to China...........
but i am wondering what makes you think like this?
