| Post subject: NRL Rugby League Grand Final - Sunday 4th Oct |
This Sunday at 3pm The Beaver will be showing on the big screen all the action from the 2009 Rugby League Grand Final between the Parramatta Eels and the Melbourne Storm.
See the battle between some of the best players in the NRL such as Dally M Player of the Year Jarryd Hayne, Greg Inglis and Billy Slater to name just a few.
As usual, the kitchen will be open with Kooka Pies, and the Beaver's famous cheeseburgers and fish and chips and best of all we'll be doing 25 RMB Aussie beers all day until midnight.
Get there! Get amongst it!

I'll be there.
Roll up Mexicans and support your team!
By the way, Australia Network has it listed as:
National Rugby League
Grand Final - Melbourne Storm v Parramatta Eels
New Delhi: Sunday 4 Oct at 11:00
Hong Kong: Sunday 4 Oct at 13:30
Suva: Sunday 4 Oct at 17:30
Shouldn't we start the festivities at 1.30pm? Yes, kick-off's listed on the NRL site as 3pm Sydney time, but why hang back?
The pre-game show should be as ludicrous as ever. |

Will do.
I've got a quandry, though. As much as I have a historic dislike of Parra (grrr - '81 still hurts) and admiration for the way the Storm play, I've checked the teams, and Parra has two ex-Newtown players to Melbourne's one.
Usually, I just go for the team with the most ex-Jets in it, but supporting the Eels is a big ask...
Either way, I'll be there early doors as well. BTW: can you make sure that's early OPEN doors, Walrus?). I've already heard from a few bods who were looking for a venue for the Biffo er, I mean game of skill and highly refined sportsmanship.
Let's hope a bit of THIS stuff breaks out:

Should be a good one.
Neither team is mine, but I'll go for anyone except Melbourne in the League.
Beer it up. |

I just got a heads-up re the likelihood of a typhoon in the Philippines (Typhoon Parma) mucking up the Dream uplink for the GF on Sunday arvo.
Is there any chance that the Beaver could investigate getting one of the online radio links (2GB say) working for Sunday as a back-up in case the picture goes out?
I'd hate for us to be unable to keep up with the match in some way.
Apparently HG and Roy aren't calling it this year (they moved to 2MMM??? Huh??? WTF????), so it'll probably have to be those boofheads on 2GB - I don't think the ABC puts their call up on the web for "licensing reasons". |

Ooops. Correction to the above k/off time: NRL site has it as 5pm Sydney time, so therefore, with Daylight Saving starting early Sunday morning, it's erm...
(thinks: deduct the two hours + 1 hour DST time difference, take away the number you first thought of...)
...oh yeah, 2pm our time. So half an hour of blather from 1.30 to 2pm, then kick-arse league from 2pm to 3.40pm-odd. Then further drinking. |
