It's a trip.

"2 Or 3 Things I Know About Her"

A young Parisian housewife turns tricks by day to keep up with the Joneses. Jean-Luc Godard's 1967 cinematic essay (you can't really call it a story), trains his gimlet eye on consumerism, sex, the Vietnam war, day care, urban sprawl and you name it. It's JLG at the top of his game and the movie Martin Scorsese quotes with his close-up of Travis Bickle's glass of Alka-Seltzer.

The Great Buck Howard with John Malkovich.

Malkovich is such a class actor that he could do literally anything and make it look gold. This film is very funny.

"District 9"

An alien spacecraft craps out over Johannesburg. Its occupants are settled in the shantytown of the title, where they become the ultimate outcasts. A paper-pushing nebbish is put at the head of a task force to relocate the "prawns," as they are called, outside of the city limits. When he gets infected with their DNA, he starts to turn into a prawn himself. Superior science fiction/social commentary. Highly recommended.

The boat that rocked

Pirate radio run from a ship anchored off the shore of blighty in the 60's. Great cast and tunes from that period.

4/5

"Love In The Afternoon"

Love French movies, la nouvelle vague, but just don't get Rohmer, even with an appreciative afterward by bad boy playwright Neil Labute. For all the fine looking women, the film has no fizz.

This movie is mind-blowing in so many ways that it simply becomes breathtaking.

I read somewhere that the subtext is apartheid - such bullsh*t - it's so much more than that.

Quite frankly, film of the year.

1000% excellent.

Having said that, I also watched The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past which is complete crap but a great movie to watch with a chick that's just arrived in your house.

Haha!!

Been looking for the music from The Keep. Tangerine Dream did pretty much all but the opening song when the Germans were rolling into the village. That one was done by Brian Eno, rather than Tangerine Dream.

Tell you what, that's one of the HARDEST soundtracks to track down. Numerous versions & copies out there, none of which are the actual music IN the movie. Tons of music FROM the movie though.
