| Post subject: Krispy Kreme opening in Shanghai |
w00t!!!!
The CityWeekend scouts report that they're opening, and first 200 people there get some free surprise.
It's making me reminisc the days when I was back in Australia and we would make the long pilgrimmage to a far away town, just so I could get in line to get my fresh-off-the-line Krispy Kreme donuts... mmmmmmmmm.....
(PS. I've you've only had the premade Krispy Kremes, you haven't really tried 'em. They taste completely different to the fresh ones) |

Once in Vegas I went to a KC store where you got them hot out of the cooker. Oh my God these were the best thing I ever ate. They gave them to you right off the conveyor belt. No comparison to boxed donuts. |

If they don't localize the flavor... Krispy Creme are really freakin amazing. But like every other restaurant that comes here they will be great the first few weeks, then the local management team will leave, and they will be serving 2 day old donuts from Jiang Su. |

Right near where I live, 5 mins walk. OH THE GLORY!!!!
Everyone try out the donuts fresh off the line, before you have a big girly fit over "unhealthy, fattening, crappy food".. blah blah blah... NOBODY likes a lettuce muncher - just FYI. |

^Damn. How did you get hold of their menu? That's flat-out industrial espionage.
My favourite was the Donut King chocolate-iced donut I had not long after they opened here that was salty.
WTF??? |

400 RMB for 9 hours of work and free donuts? I wonder what type of qualified person they think they can get with that. A student who skips classes, but is extremely personable and just needs something to do. Or a guy who skips work, doesn't care at all about money and will work for donuts.
So basically:

KK is a master of free publicity. When they first came to Canada there was so much hype in the papers and on the news that they had line ups around the block at the first store for about a year with little or no paid advertising. Now several years later the store is dead. I went in once in the first year to give it a try and they gave everyone in line a free sample for waiting. By the time i was up to the cash to order i had downed 2 free samples and already had the sugary donut hangover feeling and only ordered a few to take back to the office and give away. Personally I think they taste like sh*t. |

I can't eat a whole doughnut without feeling like I've put on 5 lbs. I haven't had a doughnut in probably two years.
I used to love KK & coffee |
