Blue Planet Run
The world is not using its water resources wisely. Huge photo book with a bunch of facts chucked in about quite a neat project for bringing clean water to 200mn of the 1.1bn odd people in the world that don't have access to clean drinking water. Will gladly lend it out if anyone else wants a read/look. |

The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein,
A very good read. How the Chicago school has repeatedly exploited disasters for personal gain. Such as this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0743253434/ |

Just finished Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris. It is good generally ,but the end is a bit confusing.i guess she will going to work on the next one. Somehow I feel the whole Southern Vampire myths is way too long! |

I am reading " The Definitive Book of Body Language" by Allan and Barbara Pease their great edition in this early afternoon.
The book is about the difference between what someone says and how it correlates to their body response i.e. creating body language.
I saw this as a great benefit as a professional in dealing with new clients, negotiations, business relationships, etc. Basically, instead of focusing all your energy on what someone is saying, (which half the time usually not worth your time) try and read what their body is telling you. It is much harder to hide body language simply because it’s a reaction to your brains state and not pre-meditated like verbal communication. |

Loved Bleak House. So much for equity and the Court of Chancery... Poor Richard and Ada... There is hope in little Richard... |

Recently read the following:
The World According to Jeremy Clarkson -- A compilation of the columns he wrote for the Sunday Times between 2001 and 2003.
I Know You Got Soul by Jeremy Clarkson -- A compilation of articles he has written about machines that he reckons has soul.
Of Love and Shadows by Isabel Allende -- A moving love story set amidst the turmoils of political instability in a country of arbitrary arrests and disappearances.
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami -- A story about a middle aged man reflecting on his teen years in Tokyo after hearing the Beatles' song and how the closest people to him in those years chose suicide over life and how he pushed on to learn that one has to live and that death is apart of life.
All highly recommended reading, especially the books by Allende and Murakami. |

Dreams From My Father
Barack Obama
The guy writes good. From Hawaii to Indonesia to Chicago to Kenya. Semi-autobiographical though it misses out large chunks of his life. Takes you through his life and his quest to find out about his dad through to about 1995. A good read.
6.5/10 |

One of the best readings since a long time. Original & hilarious... If anyone films the movie, it must be a good one too.. |

Just read:
How To Lose Friends & Alienate People - Toby Young.
Funny stuff with the occasional deconstructionist view of New York, New Yorkers and the magazine industry.
Centurion - Simon Scarrow
Scarrow is a historian of Ancient Roman history. He knows his stuff, the book is well researched, etc etc, but the writing is dire shite. A good book for high school kids to read to maintain their interest in history lessons.
Bang! - Sharon G Flake
This book is written for high school kids, but it's very good. A black writer writing about life in the ghetto. Great stuff. |

I am reading Society Child by Janis Ian.
the influential singer back in 60s and 70s talked about her dramatic and tumbling music and personal life.
she is amazingly articulate and honest.
the first sentence of the book: " I was born into the crack that split America."
And I couldnt stop but turning the page from there. |

The World is Flat - Thomas Friedman (Globalisation theory - pretty interesting ****)

Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult -- Death penalty imposed on a carpenter (akin to Jesus) who has been convicted of a double murder (all is not what it seems). Easy reading, but raises a few contemporary social issues such as the validity of capital punishment and the role of religion in our society. |

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, absolutely divine and I noticed that it's readily available in plenty of foreign language bookstores here. Fantasy, freakshows, life on the roads with a circus... really good book. |
