Hi Kenn,
I play at a small public facility at NO 64 Wulumuqi Nan Lu that has 2 outdoor courts. It's 80 RMB/HR on weekends or with lighting, 50 RMB/HR during the weekdays. The courts are well maintained. The only issue is that on the west end of the courts the backstop/wall is a bit too close to the baseline, about 2 meters short of regulation (6M?). If you play someone who lobs a lot or hits real hard and deep, it may be a problem.
We chose this one because it's a three-minute walk from our home and a five-minute walk from Hengshan Lu Station on Line 1, which makes it easy for others to join us.
If you need to string your racquet, please check out the store in my previous post. Its store manager is a certified Master Racquet Technician by the CRSA. I have no idea how much he charges to string a racquet since I just get the clerk to do it for 15 RMB, which is good enough for a 3.0 like me. But for a 5.0, I guess you may want a good stringer. |

I recommend Dunlop Fort Elite. A tin can of 3 balls costs 31 RMB. Or Slazenger, not as durable as Dunlop but quite a few fans from Europe, for 33 RMB a can.
I've been getting Dunlop Fort Elite tennis balls (3 per tin can) from this place for a couple of years. The playability (bounce, visibility, and weight) and durability of these balls are similar to my favorite Dunlop GrandPrix XD tennis balls. Links to their taobao shop:

Hi Sandeep,
I play in the afternoon or at night on weekends. Where do you guys play?
The shop you just bought the balls from appears to be a major distributor for Dunlop. They actually got Dunlop to print their red logo (Esports) opposite the Dunlop logo on the tennis balls. I like the extra tag, which further reduces the possibility of having your balls mixed up with others'.

The name is very similar to the place I stay at Oriental Manhattan, but the courts here cost $60/hr during peak hours. |

Looking for lots of tennis!
If anyone wants to hit, play singles, or needs a doubles partner I am up for anything right now. I've been in Shanghai about three months, and can't wait to start playing again. I can play after 5 on weekdays or anytime on weekends. I live in Xujahui but will go anywhere that is close to a subway stop to play.

Hi, anyone up for a game this weekend? I described my level in detail eralier in this thread... (4.5 or 5.0), have an indoor court next to xintiandi, but due to the weather i would prefer to play outside.

Good to see the names coming out! Due to constipated schedule and travelling, I've only had the pleasure of meeting "The German Hammer" aka Philipp and Bhasker "The Fleet Footed"  , but that is something we must remedy.
The weather and season being what it is, could you good people supply indoor court information and reservation phone numbers if you have them? I imagine it'd be useful for many of us.
Seems a cracking idea with that Tennis Ladder above, George. Will surely sign up sooner or later. |
