My unexpected pleasures - find out that I could still sleep for a couple of hours when awaked in the middle of the night.
and find out 20yuan in the pocket of the suit which I wore last year. |

the people here should be called as a good example of polarization ....
i had an experience with someone who pretended to be my neighbor and swindled 30rmb out of me. after 3 days i lost my hope for getting neither the money nor the faith of treating others nice back. |

As I was leaving for work today, it dawned on me that I had left my umbrella at the restaurant where I had dinner last night. No big deal, I figured, as the restaurant was practically across the street from my apartment, so I could just make a quick dash across the street, pick it up, and be on my way. Not so; somehow, in the 12 hours since I had last been there, "mei you". I was a bit irritated especially since I didn't have a lot of time, but there was a Kedi right there, so I popped in - "mei you". Sigh. All-days - "mei you". No having much choice, I decided to suck it up and walk to the metro without one, even though it was pouring. By the time I was a block away, my hair was soaked, water was dripping down my face, and I was pretty miserable.
As I was waiting to cross the street, a random guy came up and held his umbrella over me, and insisted - in English - on covering me with it the rest of the way. Even though I was already drenched, his kindness made me feel a lot less crappy.
We got on the metro together, since we were going in the same direction. I opted to stand even if there was actually a free seat in order to better dry off (the rain had started to seep through my trench), but this guy spotted a coveted empty seat, and proceded to hold off the hordes until I assured him I'd rather stand. Chivalry on Chinese public transportation - wow!
