| Post subject: New XBOX 360 games! |
So I got Modern Warfare 2 and Tekken 6 from the video game store and I popped it into my 360 and it didn't work! I went back to the game store and they told me that I needed some boot disk. I buy the boot disk and all that came up was a screen that told me to put the disk into an XBOX 360 machine?!?!?!
Anyone else have a similar problem with their xbox 360 machines?! I have a newer system with the Jasper chip. My friend that has a launch machine played the game fine!? I wanna play that damn game!!!! |

It's new games, there is no way to play them. Using bootdisk will get you 110% ban.
To use it insert it in X360, there will be video, eject disk from tray BUT DON'T PRESS RED "B" BUTTON, just press eject on console. After that insert game you want to play, should work. |

every time I put in the boot disk, it just tells me "in order to read this disc, Please insert it into an xbox 360 console"
I tried to eject thing you said, but when I eject it and put it into modern warfare 2, it just goes back to the home screen and then starts trying to boot modern warfare 2 which doesn't work.
Will they release another version of modern warfare 2 or tekken 6 that will not require the boot disk?!
Thanks for your help, you seem knowledgeable about this crap! |

the 110% ban is nonsense afaik.... if it's properly stealth patched it should be no problem...
The new games are wave 4 and thus have new protection, time to wait for new firmware >.< or use the bootdisc but if the disc isnt protected well you will get a live ban... |

I was under the impression that using the boot disc to boot a properly stealthed wave 4 game to play on live was as undetectable as playing a wave 1,2,3 game on live. Is this not the case?
Also when the newest iXtreme is released, how much should a shop charge to do it (if they should charge at all)? |

do you know what version of iXtreme you're using? iXtreme 1.51 plays Wave 4 games just fine, whereas iXtreme 1.6 won't... you can downgrade to 1.51 if you're having issues with the bootdisc
also, not to threadcap, but mind if I ask where you bought them and how much you paid? |

apperently not all drives play wave 4 fine with 1.51 ...
if them refers to games, i think they should be 5 rmb each in all stores |

Only Hitachi with 1.51 plays wave 4. iXtreme 1.61 is out, haven't found a shop that would do it (even showing them where to get all the files for it off the net). |

Oops... sorry about my misunderstanding... You're probably correct about only Hitachi 1.51 being able to play it...
Which stores are you referring to btw? I know there's a three-story shop by Jing'An Temple, but last time I was there I couldn't find any backups |

there's plenty of stores everywhere i think, they are just very small stores and they usually have xbox 360, ps3 and all kinds of stickers on their window or on display... most of them have 360 backups, sometimes they "hide" them though, so you can just ask them.. there's one on beijing lu (there's a topic about it in this forum), but there's plenty of other ones... |

ok for everyone who can't play call of duty modern warfare 2: here's what worked for me....
i have an older xbox (bought in shanghai, modded, about 2 years ago) and when i put in the game it says it needs the dashboard update... update then restart then says needs update... rinse, repeat. sooo i came here and saw things like flash update and new this and that and blah blah 50 kuai or 200 kuai... so i take it to the shop on guan yuan xi lu near hua shan lu and he grabs a new gta and uses the dashboard update on it. problem solved. cost: 0 (bought some games just because)

you were probably lcuky enough to have some firmware and drive combo that made it work (i think there were 1 or 2)... But for most ppl this wont work and firmware flashing is needed (or the boot disc)... Easy to recognize by the discs just starting up the DVD player instead of the console thinking it's a game disc (or requesting a dashboard update)...

Where did you get your copy of MW2? I have searched all of the games shops I know but no joy. I am leaving next week and would love a copy of this before I go. Wouldn't mind Borderlands and Tekken 6 either. Please help. |

hmm also flashed my xbox to '1.61' but it still doesnt play any game... aka i was ripped off by the game store.. went back and the guy claimed all wave 4 games still need boot disc even with 1.61 of course i said its not true but he keeps saying he's right... its just 50 rmb, but these guys dont have to learn/know that many things... is it that hard to get it right?! |

do I need to reflash the firmware and is it available? or should I buy the boot disk? If I do get the boot disk is there any future dmg?

I have the same problem. Took my console to Cyber Mart near Times Square to get flashed. Paid my 50 rmb and got it back but still didn't play most of the new games. The guy said to leave it for another day and he'll see what he can do. Hopefully I'll get it back today in one piece and working.
Do you need to use a boot disc even after the drive has been flashed? If not
has anyone successfully updated their xbox by flashing the drive or is everyone playing off boot discs? |

I got the new hardware flash and I still need to use a boot disc to play the new wave 4 games. As far as I know, I don't think there is a flash available right now that doesn't need a boot disc, but I might be wrong. |
