| Post subject: Cheapest way to buy Domestic Airline tickets |
I want to visit some friends in Yinchuan. I have never maneuvered through the maze of China ticket websites and stuff like that. Any recommendations? Should I stick to websites or look for local travel agencies or go directly to the airlines? I got to do this quickly. I'm thinking of traveling the beginning part of November. I'm currently in Zhuji City and would be more likely to travel from Hangzhou than Shanghai (unless I get a deal I can't refuse)!!! |

Ctrip is good just dial 400 820 6666 and you will get tickets at home the same day. |

I used to live in Zhuji City! Best way would be through Hangzhou, i usually use
www.ctrip.com
I would book through them and pick up and pay at Hangzhou airpor, about 1 and half hours before flight departure, they have a counter there in the domestic departure area, i think it is counter 2, you can confirm that with them at booking, they only accept cash payment at the airport though. Or if you have a china credit card, then you can pay when you confirm the flights on the phone. |

After a bit of research I found ctrip.com to be fairly expensive (across all flights all over China).
The easiest to use though. |

Ctrip is easy to use, but not always the cheapest. Recommendation: www.qunar.com. They compare all supply and have a sort of 'auctioning' system. You can enter your requirements e.g. date, max price, flexibility and so on and can get alerts when your price level is reached. 1 minus: it's only in Chinese, so you need to be able to read Chinese. |

have my own agent for a while, only use Ctrip for hotel booking, but E-long & Ctrip are great for price comparison and flight schedules. |

Very reliable and almost always the cheapest. Note most tickets she issues are no-change, no-refund allowed. |

Thanks to one and all. The elong one looks the most promising. I have used ctrip for hotels before and have been pleased. I've also contacted Helen Gong and am waiting to hear from her. This has been very helpful! |

Actually, IF you book the domestic airfares, the price is the same whether you reserve it via website or airlines or travel agency. |

all the price are same on all sites/source/airport.
3 main sites online, elong, ctrip and 9588.com.
i personally use only 9588.com, you can use a foreign creditcard. other two sites you could too but they keep blocking your transaction, you have to call in then maybe send in some authorization form by fax, lots of trouble. |

Thanks again. I will check 9588.com for future trips. I agree with Veejay about Helen Gong. She has gotten me the cheapest flight and I was able to just do a money transfer (Bank of China) from my account to hers. She charges 3% fee for credit cards. Anyway, once I make the trip later this month I'll let you know if I pleased with the complete package. So far so good! |

Yep, I third the vote on Helen Gong. She may take a day or so to get back to you but that is because she is searching the best and cheapest options for you which she always gets.

You're right about the day or two to get back to you, but what she found for my trip to Shijiazhuang was amazing! No one else could duplicate her. She was also very patient with a newbie navigating the banking system. She held the ticket prices an extra day to make sure my transfer cleared. Kudos to Helen! |
