| Post subject: Where can I rent a child's violin? |
I would like to continue my son's violin lessons. I would rather not have to invest in a tiny violin he will outgrow when his arms lengthen (he's 6). Any tips? |

Walked by lots of music stores next to the SH Conservatory of Music on Fenyang Rd., between Huaihai Rd. and Taiyuan Rd. Saw many violins hanging in windows. Don't know if they rent tho'. |

I would expect that if it is for a child to learn on, probably better to just buy a cheap one. |

Why not buy a cheap 2nd hand one? In the UK, it was cheaper to buy a student violin than hire it from my child's school for a year (they charged the equivalent of 350 RMB a term). The same could be true here. If you like, you can put new strings on violin and rehair the bow if necessary. It might still be cheaper than hiring. |
