Do you mean Chinese will be out of job if no YUM brand here to employ?well you are probably wrong.They can still suvive because local brands would suvive instead of a buyout.When i was young,all the personal hygiene stuff are made by Chinese.but now they've gradually disappear or share only a tiny small part of the pie.Do you mean that Chinese don't have to eat, drink?if there is a chance of demand, there would be chances of supply,hence the employment.simple rule of economics.

Supply and demand are functions of a capitalist society. Without foreign influence, China would be a COMMUNIST society. Not capitalist. In communism you supply everything to the government and they give out to the people according to their need. If there is a demand for something then the government must supply it, but if you look to China's past you'll see that providing cars, and KFC are pretty far down the list of "demands" from the Chinese people. It's more like basic survival functions...
And no, I wasn't saying if YUM brands weren't here everything would go to crap. I was saying if ALL FOREIGN stuff were gone, things would be absolutely abysmal, and if all expats and expat businesses were gone, things would also be pretty crappy here.

You hope for more because of what you have seen foreigners achieve. No, I do not have a "stand-still view," whatever that's supposed to mean. I am aware that everything is changing, but until there was a foreign influence, things in China were pretty damn stagnant. China as a whole still does not innovate in any real way. It imitates... It's not the same thing.

Airplane, was invented by Wright brothers, they are Americans.
Now, if Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Former Soviet Union, those 5 countries did not have any expat/foreign influence, would any of them eventually make an airplane on their own? |

Many would but China would still be floating around in giant kites and paper mache air balloons.
They were flying kites back before Christ, and yet thousands of years later they were no closer to airplanes than when they started.

No, you haven't explained in length. You took it to be very obvious (which it isn't since how should people feel a need for something they don't even know exist or something they've only heard about?). Then you came up with an example which was obviously wrong. You fail.
You claimed that expats had no hand in making the private business sector to what it is today. This statement was obviously wrong for so many reasons, no one really had the energy to give reasons but here you have a few: the amount of locals the foreign companies employ is a HUGE number, the amount that have jobs because of people from other foreign companies, that come here to buy cheap materials or other manufactured goods, keep another insane amount (by western standards) of people employed. The amount of the GDP that is because of FDI, export, whatever is substantial. So again you fail.
The rest of the "discussion" you basically tried to discredit anything that Marakanis said, you pick out some sentences and claim them to be wrong and then discredit anything he has ever said. Yet again you fail.
Lets just keep the crap to ourselves in the future shall we? It was fun to see you and other people blurting out things that are soooo obviously wrong and stupid. Then even more fun because it actually seems like you believe it... Last but not least it is fun when you accuse others for changing their argument when you have done so many times already.

BUT where was MY benefit of doubt??
When I said "expats had no hands in China's growth", that was "figuratively speaking" too, because it was in direct response to someone saying China is back to stone age if not for expats, I was just being extreme in opposite way.
Why is my line taken out of context and argued to death, without benefit of doubt that it was little exaggerated and figuratively speaking??? |
