This is a good idea, to have a fish n chips evening, think we should make this a regular occurance.
Unfortunatly i can't make it this time round, (dog sitting) for Fiddler, but would be eager to come to the next one |

So we had the fish and chips which were scrummy - even with crinkle cut chips! But without the founder of this new tradition - Jasmyn where were you????
The Beaver was kinda cool, a little small but the music was actually pretty good - heard a lot of old faves - quite unusual in Shanghai! But it was just a bit too loud (I know - I'm an old fart!!), but i would have like to be able to talk to people - maybe not the best place for a first meeting! Would have liked to talk to Jasmyn - what's the story?? Better be a good one!
Maybe we can check out somewhere else - did someone suggest the Blarney Stone or Malones maybe? |

Well, i walked into the place looking for food but ended ordering my 1st bottle of booze. Finally i managed to grab some fish n chips (wasnt really that great) kinda lack the sauce.
i do have to agree with bellabella that it aint really a place to dine but it is a pub (so what can it be like if it aint rowdy ya know?)
I dont know whether it is a weekly thing wih the booze but thanks Peter, (i think) the boss of the club for the flow of booze. It sure was great ! (laugh)
And we were looking for Jasmyn ! (too cold to survive the night?)
What a night of heineken !! |

Hey, I'm just ayank here, but a yank who fondly remembers the Irish pubs back home. I'm seeking curry gravy fri -- er, chips, guinness gravy chips, bangers n mash, and what the hell, can't go wrong with fried fish! So am I invited? Will there be another of these events? If I call them fries will i be shot? ;_; |

Try Blarney Stone next time. The bangers and mash are pretty good ... and filling as all get out. Huge portions. And while not on the menu, they will make you steamed veggies ... tasty and works suprisingly well with drinks.
Get the Parish Priest while you are there ... hands down one of the best drinks ever! Vodka, Kaluha, Guiness, Coke. Drink it quickly or it will get syrupy. |

I would be up for some proper Fish and Chips. Perhaps pre-a$$ cheeks on Saturday night I'll get up the nerve to order food from Pete.
Steamed veggies at the Blarney Stone are hands-down the way to go. They'll do them with garlic butter too, if you ask. The salmon is quite tasty as well, and they had a yummy curry carrot soup the other day.
Everything pairs well with a Parish Priest at the Blarney Stone. Same goes for a Pink Squirrel. The advice about drinking quickly really has very little to do with the aesthetics of the drink, though...thank Odin. Syrupy is bad. Not that mine have ever lasted long enough to experiment.

Reading this post has given me some brilliant ideas. YOu know how you mentioned that the first fellow to open a proper fish and chips sop will make himself a millionaire over night? well I've figured out how to make myself a billionaire. I moving to England and opening a chain of proper restaurants so that future generations of brits wont be forced to live sprinkled around the world lamenting the days when they were sooo lucky to have readily available cod and chips or bangers and mash.
Who the hell dreams of mushy peas? |
