| Post subject: Mafia Experts Wanted |
Hi Folks,
i just had the idea to bring one of those good old shanghai mafia gangs back to life. I have read about the blue, the red and the green gang and that sounds interesting.
I think we have all the specialist here that we need:
Magnolia knows all the Bars and Pubs to get protection money from.
IamMe is good in drugs now.
TheFiddler - His name is his Job.
Fukuman and Milktea for the girls.
and so on.
My Job would be the man behind in the dark, who collects the money
So where are all those children and grand children of the ealier gangs, who know how that works in detail??????
Any help is welcome! |

Aparently the government squashes any proper gangs so there haven't been since the 50s. At least the one's who are out in the open like in HK action movies. lol.
I seem to have befriended some local loan sharks though. They only work by loaning money and taking stuff like the papers to your house, or knowing where you live and then they band together and beat you if you don't pay, or hire someone else to. They don't have any kind of gang structure or bosses, they just all help each other out with the intimidation and beatings.
I seem to know drug dealers and pimps too, but that really doesn't seem hard here. lol. At least when you live in my neighborhood. lol.
Yeah it seems Taiwan or maybe HK(?) is where it's at. We couldn't get in on it here... at least untill we have full WTO compliance. We're about to be allowed to start our own businesses without Chinese partners. I guess then we'd have a way to launder money.
Actually I hear the only real gang activity these days is running a gambling joint then lending money to gamblers at a high interest rate (fingers?).

IamMe thanks for the information.
So it seems to have a good business on the drug part if the town is realy so empty as it looks. I have also the experience that in other Towns (Europe) its much more than here.
Kiwi is the weather better in Taiwan?
If yes lets move and start there, if no stay and wait for spring.
Greetings Villon |

The weather is indeed better but don't even think about moving to Taiwan. It's already very occupied. I mean all the "meats" are taken. There are the old schools - the green and the red. (although I have never heard of the Yellow.) And, the new schools - Zhu Lian, Si Hai, to name a few.
Since PRC has already clean up the market for you guys, staying in Shanghai is a better idea.
Oh, No. I am not mafia expert at all. Learn those knowledge from books and newspapers just like you, Villon. |

If you are serious how serious do you want to get. I am all ready taking the hot route to heaven but have put my villany days behind me lol. I have first hand knowledge of how to deal with situations in the life style you say. But not in China, I would tread lightly because the Chinese authorities dont mess around. And yes I may be interested if I think you have what it takes. Only on an advisary role though because my life is sweet at the moment. |

How do you go about joining the CCP - the biggest, baddest gang of ice-cold thugs on the planet? Al Capone wasn't a patch on these guys - they've killed millions of innocents, invaded countries... These guys don't just put a horse head in your bed, they slaughter the entire herd! |

Edgewood -
At first I thought you are a genius yet although the CCP gang is powerful but not fun to join at all. I will take Villon's suggest because of two reasons:
1. I don't have to memorize those propaganda written on the blackboard in my Xiao Qu.
2. It's easier to climb to the top in a small family. |

A few months ago my aunt got a 6-month sabbatical from Michigan to do her research on women in Chinese Enlightenment (1910s-30s). She interviewed a lot of old folks, both men and women, and sometimes I tagged along. There was this old gentleman in his 80s, who was a former gang member and a lieutenant of the legendary Huang Jin-Rong. He looked very good for a rough; almost noble-looking, in fact. And he wept profusely during the interview.
Here's this old gent, who's responsible for some 30 deaths in his day, wearing an ancient turtleneck and crying like a baby. Must be tough to be a machismo. |

Well there's always the illegal football pools (that's soccer betting to us Americans). The Shanghai headquarters of the business is that ugly pink building at the corner of Fumin Lu and Julu Lu... they keep the computer servers in there. A friend of mine knows the head mafioso's wife, so maybe we can rope them in? |

Your aunt is female... teaches Chinese studies at Michigan-Ann Arbor... and is on sabbatical for the Fall 2004 term. That could be almost anyone, couldn't it?
Oh, and she's interested in "Women in the Chinese Enlightenment". Maybe she even published a book by that title in 1999? Who knows... |

Are you guys retarded. Who told you that organized crime wasnt already huge in Shanghai and has been for many years. Why warn any body about Zhu Lian(Bamboo united) or Si Hai(four seas) in Taiwan When Both are very very active in SHanghai at the moment. Anybody who supposes that organized crime isn't already hugely entrenched in Shanghai must not get out much. |

Is that right? Brought over by Taiwanese, or locally developed and then hooked up with their TW bros? |

Hahaha...I thought you were aluding to that line by Jamie Lee Curtis to Kevin Kline, in "A Fish Called Wanda": "OK...what would Plato do?" |
