Thx everyone. It was another successful meeting, aside from having too little seats! We also thank MARKUS for the good bye party, for the great pizza, and the great SATURDAY! I wish him all the best in Germany n hope he can come back to shanghai in near future.

Last but not least, some people have made some suggestions for our meetings. First is the cost. There are a lot of other cheaper (n maybe better!) options for our future meetings if we start going to some decent chinese restaurants. The thing abt chinese restaurants is that the more people there r, the lesser each person has to pay. Since not everyone like to club or go to parties after dinner, other changes may have to be made. The next meeting might be held in the afternoon for lunch. Plus, the way we split the bill for dinner may not be reasonable for people who do not drink any alcohol or drink a lot less than others.

Any other suggestions are welcome! Do not be shy to speak up! Razz (Post it here, pm me, or email me.) Because this meeting is supposed to be enjoyable for EVERYONE.

Sounds like it was fun. Sorry I couldn't come, I would have called, but I didn't have anyone's phone number. Maybe next time.

See you then!

Hi everyone,

The next young expat gathering will be held on FRIDAY (Dec10). At first I was thinking of going to a japanese restaurant in which we can book a big table in a room (50rmb spending avg; without too much alcohol!). On second thought, I get the feeling that not everyone likes raw food so Sichuan restaurant is a better idea. (2 minutes away from robert's apartment). "Darling Harbor" will never be mistaken as an authentic Sichuan restaurant, but not necessarily a bad thing for us because: 1. It's not as spicy n a little sweeter as it is adjusted to the sh taste (good for those who can't eat too spicy) 2. the environment feels a little "western", as far as i can remember.

The bad news is that the biggest table can only sit 14 people n considering that some regulars have told me they r coming, we have VERY limited slots left.

POST and PM me your cellphone number if you are interested. To better organize this activity, i need an updated name list from EVERYBODY. (regulars, just post to rsvp instead of pm me)
THE LIST:
Kristin
Robert
Mentos
*Ira
*Rabea
*Kenny
*Oliver

*have expressed interest but not confirmed

The last thing i want to see is people not registering or friends of people coming without registering and having to sit on a seperate table while the big crowd takes the main table.

The list:
Kristin
Robert
Mentos
Ira
Kenny
Oliver
Matt

Da jia hau! Thank you Mentos for yet another brilliant plan! I hereby wish to officially register - also coming along are one girl and two guys. We are all housebroken and only seldomly bite.

Please accept my apologies for having brought a few people last time, regarding the big table-small table conflict. I'm glad it worked out though, as we all had just enough space at the big table and no one had to go home thirsty.

Except me. In the rain.

With this I would not only like to express even more interest but CONFIRM! Razz
I am coming on Friday, yeah, yeah, yeah!!!

See you all at the restaurant.
And thanx to Mentos that he chose a restaurant which is not too spicy, just can't handle that... Shocked

Post subject: Something to think about...

Hi everyone,

The address for Darling Harbor is:
6/F, 755 Huaihai Zhong Lu, by Ruijin Er Lu (64453868)
Stop at "Shan Xi Nan Lu" station for those taking the metro, and walk until you see a Watson's (on Ruijin Er Lu), then turn right and cross the street. You should be able to see a small door that leads to an elevator.

Time and Date:
8pm on Friday (Dec 10th)

Avg spending:
50rmb (assuming everybody drinks a glass of beer/soft drink)
60-70rmb (each person averages abt 3 glasses; which is the more likely scenario)

THE LIST:
Kristin
Robert
Bettina
Alex
Steffen
Mentos
Kenny
Oliver
Matt
Rabea
Ira

IF YOU ARE NOT ON THE LIST AND INTEND TO COME, PM ME YOUR PHONE NUMBER TO RSVP. (John, John's roommate, new members, etc)

Last but not least, a number of members have suggested to hold a christmas party. Yaay! Any ideas/suggestions, either post, pm me, OR talk about it during tomorrow's gathering! Very Happy If we were to book seats in restaurants, we have to act quickly before everything is occupied. A couple things to think about:

1. How much are you willing to spend for christmas dinner? (Below 200rmb is unrealistic, unless we have a house party!)

2. Would you prefer to have dinner outside or organize it in someone's house? (Cheaper, more freedom VS less hassle n more "traditional")

3. I don't know abt everyone's availability, but my last day of work for this yr is the 22nd.

Think abt it because Christmas is coming VERY VERY soon! Wink

The final bill will be seperated into three:

To ensure that we pay for what we consume as fairly as possible, each person pays according to either 1+2a) or 1+2b). I'm pretty sure the germans belong the the former. Wink

1. Food (everyone present contributes an equal amount)

2a) Lots of Drinks/Alcohol (people who drink three glasses or more)

2b) Drinks/Alcohol (people who drink one-two glasses)

Christmas suggestions:
1. Inhouse party in someone's apartment.
2. ROSSO: http://www.rosso.com.cn/hj2.htm
3. Trattoria Isabelle
