Post subject: Favorite comfort food?

Its really cold out now so I have to vote for a nice hot and spicy bowl of Vietnamese PHO with all the trimmings, including the tripe. And I prefer the lime juice in it, not the lemon juice.

What do u guys like?

I prefer to have a fondue or in the western way or in the chinese way. Both are great to eat during the cold cold winter Wink

Schweinshachse mit Rotkohl und Bratkartoffeln

which I believe here in Shanghai goes by the name of "De gou zhu ti"
but has no Rotkohl or Bratkartoffel

Pig ankle with red cabbage and hash-browned potatoes.
Plus a schnapps to wash it down would be nice.

(believe it or not, we went to a chinese restaurant specializing in JiangSu style food and they served this german dish, unfortunately without the cabbage and potatoes but I was pretty happy anyway)

you should go to Paulaner in Pudong. nice view and pretty good knuckle. it was bigger than my head! they also have a wheat beer to die for.
pricey so save it for a special occasion.

Good idea, I've been there before and really enjoyed it but the price makes it kind of a once a year occasion.

now if anyone could recommend a homestyle Italian restaurant and French. there was on a good one on Maoming Rd that closed and never reopened. not highly refined stuff, simple, homestyle like the type you wish you mother could make.

Peanut butter.

A peanut butter and jelly sandwich, yogurt, chips/pretzels/saltines and apple slices is my perennial fallback lunch, available just about anywhere in the world where you can get peanut butter.

Mmm... Peanut Butter
When I had college roommates they left food around the house and consequently we had a mouse problem. So we got one of those glue traps where the mce get their little fuzzy paws stuck. But the glue was baited by smelling like Peanut Butter.
At the end of classes I'd come home and have a strange urge for a peanut butter sandwich and couldn't figure out why until we realized it was the mouse-trap permeating the house with the slight smell of peanut butter.
Damn thing never did catch any mice though.
