You guys should well prepared financially before coming over, it's not that easy to land a job in a month's time. Too many westerners now looking for jobs. But if you are flexible, you may take this as a sightseeing trip before the long ordeal of job-finding process! Each one of you should bring USD3,000.- to cover accomodation, food and sight-seeing/cultural interaction expenses for 1 month.
It's a bit risky, but no harm. And it's worth to try, because Shanghai is always the "Wonderland of Adventurers" throughout these days. Good luck and all the best! I will be in Shanghai bu end May, you can contact me for a drink thro' my email: colewoods@yahoo.com |

What you could also do is to come with L visa, then with a help of local agencies to have it changed into F type 6 months or 1 year multiple entries visa and calmly look for job.
Besides, just for info once you have Z visa, you cannot change it into any other type within Mainland China but only prolong at the same employer (or leave country and entry again with L visa and then change L visa again to F or Z). And imagine that you have some problems with your employer, say he does not pay you all of your salary. In this case you are screwed up but if you have F visa you are always on a safe side. You can easily prolong your F visa through an agency without leaving Shanghai (or other big city) or just go to Hong Kong and change it there. |
