Ummm. Do women actually think us guys know what different flowers mean? Either receiving or giving? My guess is that guys know you only give red roses to a woman that you want her to know that you love her ... or if the guy screwed up, red roses mean love and asking for forgiveness All other flowers to guys or given by guys mean it's just a gift and something to make one happy.

I would be more frightened of the man who knew what they meant... I have enough other stuff to keep straight... flowers, basically they look nice and then they die. That's about all I know and all most women I know, know. Who needs more?

Am a terribly romantic, aren't I?

Speaking as a bachelor, that would be a home-cooked meal. Very Happy

Think it means that Touch_Lefse doesn't get too many home cooked meals because he is not married.

Bingo! What I whip up doesn't much go beyond pancakes, Ramen noodles, hamburger, and brats. Now I've heard tell that there are things called "vegetables", but I think they're just an urban myth.

Seriously, I don't know a single bachelor that wouldn't love a good healthy home-cooked meal. It doesn't even have to be fancy or expensive. But trying to cook that up such for just yourself, you end up saying "Why bother?" and go the quick-n-easy route. And that's saying you know how to cook in the first place. Wink

I must remember this one. What better way to show someone special that you would happily do jail time for an honor killing if need be.

Should you wear that little black number? I don't think so honey. Don't you remember us talking about this before? Now be a good girl and choose again.

Me too, that is good enough for man to know red rose means love.

But most of woman are vain, you shouldn't miss a chance to visit our office when a girl receives the flowers one day! Wow, as if she is the hero who just comes back from the world war!!!

Methinks a box of chocolate is more attractive than a bunch of flower. At least chocolate looks good but wont die then.

But does a box of chocolate get her the same amount of attention and envy?

No, chocolate is not as HUGE as the flowers, dunno why, but I find that the small gift like a box of chocolate always attracts less attention. Maybe that is because people can more easily notice the red roses than chocolate in your desk.

Not sure if a diamond will be the different issue!!!

Ugh!!!!! I hate receiving flowers at the office! Hate, hate, hate it! Not only does everyone in the office act all weird, but then you have to take care of them and all. Much prefer when they are sent to the house... more personal somehow.

Lemongrass is right about the flowers versus chocolate... it does attract less attention.

As far as I know, in all work environments in the US, the women that get flowers at work take them home that night. I've never seen a woman keep flowers at work beyond that. Be she a CEO or an intern. Living plants, yes. Cut flowers, no. Is it different in Shanghai?

You are right about taking them home in the US... but unfortunately my ex used to send these ridiculous arrangements that wouldn't fit in the car... he equated that with something (for all I know, he heard the women in his office talking and decided that I should have these mosterous things taking up all the room in the office)... sweet gesture and after 15 or 20 gentle reminders, he did begin sending them to my house rather than in the office.

Except the time he was in big trouble and sent about 10 arrangements in one day... I finally just started giving them away to some of the other girls... there was no more room in my office (which was a large one)... Never quite sure if he meant it as an apology or as more of an apology twinged with something else....

In China... have seen the local girls take them home and leave them. Guess it depended on the person.

Flowers love them, but really pitty after about a week they lose their pose and die. I rather have a plant of seeds, so I can grow the plant myself and get another seed and the circle continues thats more possitive. Mr. Green
