Post subject: SRCA or Puxi for family and stay @ home mom?

We were suddenly sent to Shanghai and are living in a service apt. in Shanghai Racqet Club.It is 5 minutes to our 5th and 9th grade daughters' school. But, I am concerned about my quality of life living this far out.We have not signed a contract on housing, yet.One thing that we have to factor into our decision is that we will be staying for the Summer and will be here about 2 years.I have heard that the French Concession is a good place for chidren, but they lack the facilities of SRCA.
I am desparetly trying to make a final good for the whole family decision,so any suggestions or experiences that you can share will be greatly appreciated!

If you have a driver, you will be able to get anywhere you like during the day. It gets very hot here in the summer, and at the Club you have all those nice pools(I have a friend who lives there). In the city, you will not likely have outdoor pools. Close proximity to schools is very important.

I think the French Concession is out, unless your children are going to be happy with a long ride to school, but it is a great area to be in. An alternative would be Hongqiao which is kind of half way between the two and you could find a place where you could walk out your door and be close to City Shopper supermarket and a multitude of restaurants and other shops. I live at Hongqiao Golf Villas perforce as husband works at Anting, but I must say that I do love being able to walk to those places. HQGV has townhouses plus huge houses if your budget stretches that far.

If you are already having concerns with being so far away from things then I suggest looking elsewhere. Though keep in mind that most families are gone in the summer and a pool is essential for summer survival for your kids!! We live in a Hong Qiao villa complex and came in July of last year. We did a lot of hanging out by the pool alone - until around the 2nd week of August when people started to return from their home leaves.
