switch the sat receiver on and off, meaning disconnect the power supply totally and reconnect, should solve the probs.

this "powercutting" required once a month for my CHEAP PIRATED X-SAT BOX........not bought/installed from dream on sat guy

yes, it works everytime, like the dealers, most of the receiver also come from the underground factory, not stable yet, just treat it like microsoft operation system, switch on and off, haha.

So how does one know if you've got a Nokia/Samsung receiver .. if the box has no name on it ? We obviously trust the person who installs the receiver to give us the right thing!

Dreambox DM7000S is not for DREAM. it's Nokia8630S or Samsung DigitAll.

Hey all.... new to Shanghai and looking to get a sat system myself. A fellow teacher friend of mine here got a system from the Eric guy mentioned in a few of your posts. My buddy says the deal he got was pretty good, not the subscription unit but it did come with 52 stations. He went away for the beginning of winter break, came back on Feb 5 when I arrived here from Korea, and the system wouldn't work. He has passed emails along to the guy who did his set-up and he keeps getting told to wait till the new upgrade card is working better. Should I wait and see how this company continues treating him and see if the new card is worth the hassle or should I find someone other to get my system from?
thanks!!!!!

Good to hear Carrol, but my buddy still has yet to receive a new card himself yet so his is still not working. He keeps getting emails saying they are not working correctly yet and to keep waiting. I don't want to have to deal with "DOWN-TIME" too much if can be helped. We live a little out of downtown.... like an hour or so. The district is JinShan and maybe thats why he has not gotten a new upgrade card yet. Anybody else living out of town that gets good service from their sat guy?

TV is 'dead' again, although it was working fine earlier today. Another upgrade, or what?

Carrol, my card works fine, no upgrade so far, dream tv has several free channels like 4uTV, JCTV, etc, try them and if they are ok, then u maybe need a new card again. probably something wrong with ur card.
you may also try power on and off ur receiver several times.

I'm using one that was already in the apartment and I did what most of you did, switch it off and on again and it works.....but not for long...after 6 months, the on-off thing doesn't work anymore and you have to pay for a new card for RMB300. So, in total, I've paid 600.

My advise is, don't pay for it anymore. For 600, I could buy 75 DVD (600/Cool and I could select the movies I want. So, once this card is dead, that will be all for me Smile

Once I got in touch with Dreamsatellite and they pitched a package to me that had too many things I knew I'd never watch. So I asked them if they have other differently priced packages. They sent me to their webpage that didn't have any satellite packages. Just a sales pitch for their receivers. I went to Dream for the sense of buying "reliable service", but that lazy response of just giving me a website that wasn't informative to fulfill my needs was enough proof to let me know these guys are just a bunch of salesmen whose systems are just slightly more stable and promoting a quality image that can't be backed up by their actions. At least the pirated services give out flyers with different pricings of different packages.

hi Wasabichez, in terms of Dream Satellite TV, there's only one channel package, no other options. If you want a different channel package it will be from another satellite broadcaster, like from Taiwan, HK, Korea, Indonisia, Thailand or Japan.

1 easy solution to all your card problems:
get yourself a tv card for the pc, download PROGDVB from the net, use your current dish ie sat cable to connect to pc and do a channel search.
easy!
once you have all that educate yourself on some aspects of satellite encryption and throw away your existing decoder, your card that doesn't always work and your unreliable dealer.
cheers
