Post subject: Do Chinese people need to pay a bond when they go abroad

I want to go to Japan with my girlfriend in the summer. Someone told me that some people asre asked to pay a 60000 RMB bond if they travel to certain countries, because the Chinese government are worried about people not coming back. My girlfriend has never been in any trouble and she runs a business in Shanghai. IS it likely that she will be asked to pay a bond if we choose to travel to Japan on holiday? Is getting a visa a formality?

Six years ago, one of my friend's gf had similiar situation, but it was for the visa to US. I believe she showed ownership of the business, and USD 100,000 certified check plus my firend's complaint letter(he is from US), at the second time, she got the visa.

No, it's a neccesity.

As for the bond, I have heard of that happening in the past, but not lately. Verfification of funds is still sometimes required by the issuing country, but that is not always set in stone. Why not have a look at the Japanese Consulate website that deals with visa issues for the requirements.
