| Post subject: UPS, DHL or Fedex |
Hi guys,
So far I've been using UPS but almost every time there are delays of some sort. Either the pickup is late, the delivery is late or the plane is stuck somewhere. Of course they do not alert by phone before arriving, even if you request it. They also have a pickup just at the Airport, if you want to hand the package yourself. All in all a waste of time and money.
Anyone have any experience with DHL? They seem to have quite alot of branches in Shanghai ,and at least by phone, I was told they'd be willing to alert before arriving.
Cheers

I was once told that DHL is doing pretty well in shanghai,. They seem to have a firm connection with china custom. Most of the vintners choose DHL to deliver their wine or other luxurious products. Tariff is very low (almost like nothing). And seldom will the package be stuck in the custom.
But it's still secondhand info. Havent yet tried DHL so far.
Hope it help, Roee. Good luck : ) |

I have used the DHL branch at 186 Siping Lu (I think that is the street) 2x and have had good service each time. the address is listed on the DHL website. |

I tired using FedEx once and there were a lot of problems at the china custom and thus cause a long delay...
Haven’t tried DHL before but I called the YanAn Xi Road’s branch and their service was great. They are very friendly and willing to answer all your enquiry. |

have tried DHL (good service + door-door) slightly expensive though. FedEx (good service + door-door) howvere just recieved a small courierpack, envelope that contained documents (actually a one page letter of no value and my passport) unfortunatley the consultant on the other end sent this parcel with a customs declaration contents of contents = value $100. thus i had to pay ~20% customs duty/tax. my portests were a waste of time. hence my resolve never to use FedEx again. One thing worth noting is that we've used EMS (China Post) numerous times (good service + door-door) they are cheap, and i have never had a problem. also recently received a parcel with customs declaration value = $500. no problem, not tax or duty payable at this end, when the parcel was delivered.
thats my experience...
i'd suggest giving EMS a go. though you do need to be able to speak in Chinese. |

We used DHL last year to ship our stuff here, we were not happy with service, damaged goods but the most frustrating thing was we had to pick up the boxes ourselves even though they promised to deliver directly to us, this is still happening today, parcels packages are being sent to us from family members, and all that gets delivered is the packing note, then we got to wander aroung Shanghai looking for the post office, and everytime it's a different post office.
So all in all, we are not happy with thier service. |

UPS are off for this week, so I sent using DHL. Got to the branch next to my house in 2 minutes, instead of waiting for UPS for three hours.
The service there, and on the phone, was great. |

why does no one use EMS (china post) their service is spot on and they are a fraction of the prices charged by the others, and i have not had any problem with them in the 2 years i have been here and used them, either for domestic or international courier services. in fact i have sent my passport on 5 occassions, with not one problem. the only down side is needing to be able to speak chinese. |

inikia, TNT is the best! Better than DHL, Fedex or UPS. Try it! |

UPS cost sooo freaking much to ship from US to China. I would personally use FedEX, or my favorite, USPS. |
