Post subject: Xu Hui or Pudong need insight

Anyone lives in either area? I just wanna hear pros and cons in those area.

Pudong is a big big area to make generalized comment. Any more specific neighbourhood in mind?

Xu Jia Hui (in Xu Hui district)

Lived here for four years. My overall impressions:

Pros
Can always get a taxi
Central to shopping
Easy to find
Close to many restaurants and bars (RMB10 taxi ride and some are walkable)
Many smaller streets that are less crowded and less nosiy
45 minutes to the airport
15 minutes to the Portman
15 minutes to Hong Qiao
20 minutes to Xintiandi
Weekend banking at Bank of China at Grand Gateway

Cons
Loud (XJH is)
Traffic can be bad crossing XJH during rush hour or during the day on weekends
As a large shopping district, there are a lot of people milling around
