No, but I could care less.

Yes, I know he's famous.

Last time he played at California I was pretty disappointed. Too many Top 40 remixes. VIP tables crowding the dancefloor did not help. Still on at DKD it seems.

I was turned off by Miss Kitten @ DKD last time already but there's no way I'll miss Paul Oakie as I've never seen him spin before. Will head down to get presale tickets tonight.

Maybe we can join forces to go there together. The more the merrier. I'll buy tix today as well. Post here or PM me if you're interested in meeting up.

Even though I was not impressed either, I'm curious about what turned you off, xtina. Was it the crowd? I know that my date and I retreated to the upstairs "bridge" about 20 minutes into the performance because it was *impossible* to even move around down below. The place was also incredibly hot.

I won't be there this weekend: I expect it to be C-R-O-W-D-E-D, and I think Oakenfold already has enough fans.

Actually had one of my best nights ever in Shanghai at Miss Kitten (and I was even sober) ....It's true it was jammed with people but once you barged your way onto the dance floor it was easy enough to carve a bit of space for yourself. And despite being packed the crowd was in a pretty good mood which helps.
Anyway, I picked up some tickets for Oakenfold over the weekend and the PR girl was telling me to make sure to arrive early because she's expecting a very big crowd - I though this was an odd thing to say (esp from a PR person) since it kind of implies that they're going to oversell the event.....Am still really looking foward to it though. For my money, DKD is the best club in town - down-to-earth management (so far), nice crowd, and a good sound system. And at least they've sorted out the air-con for the summer.

The crowd indeed. And the heat. Even upstairs and the stairs were packed like hell. The fact that my friend got a small table at the back downstairs did help a bit but I prefer to be in the floor dancing. Miss Kitten was awesome, but I just hated it when I was pushed around everywhere I went. They'll oversell Paul Oakie this time for sure, but I'll just put up with it cos I really wanna check him out.

Doesn't Paul Oakenfold play Centre Half Back for the Bombers?

What's Sheeds letting him out at night clubs for on the night before a big game?

The last time Oakie was here, he played at Park 97 and there was some horrendous Chinese singer screeching and wailing (there have got to be worse words for what it really was) at the top of his voice along with the music. If I could, I would've reached into his throat and ripped his voice box out. Ain't gonna put myself up to that aural torture again. Seriously folks, if you're gonna spend money and have a DJ of that calibre play, LET HIM PLAY.

On that note, how was Oakie at DKD?
