Post subject: Import my own car from my country?

Hi,

My friend is from germany and is going to stay more than 5 years in shanghai. We would like to import in shanghai his car (it's a Smart), is it possible to do that?

Transportation costs 500 euros to shanghai, but then what about possibilities?

I bought my car here in Shanghai, and i feel most of the car in shanghai are boring...it's why it would be interesting to have this Smart.

Thanks!

Here's some general information about importing a car:

• Car should be 5 seats maximum.

PROCEDURES:

• Need approval from Chinese Customs before sending the car.

 You must show: - Work Permit

- Car information (Vehicule Number, Vehicule Name, Brand/Type, Date of First Registration, Engine Number, Cubic Capacity, Used Miles).

• After arrival, it takes 10 to 15 days for Import Permit, Custom Clearance & Inspection.
