| Post subject: Looking for teenage europeans/americans ! |
I will be moving to Shanghai, from Dublin/Ireland this August. I think the area I am moving to is Minhang and I will be going to an International school, but I was wondering are there any spots around the city where European and American teenagers (around 15 16 y/old) hang around? |

Pegasus (a dance club) and now the Eager Beaver (a bar where expat kids are starting to hang out at). But I'm sure you'll get to know all these places and other hot spots for expat kids once you've started at school. |

Do under 18 yearolds hang out in those spots? Eager Beaver being a bar I would expect that under 18s wouldnt be allowed in?
Also is there an under 18s night in Pegasus? |

age is not a requirement for partying in shanghai.
i saw an approx 8-year-old kid with her parents in a club at Xin Tian Di not long ago, good parenting, huh?
small kids used to go to stores to buy liqors and smokes for their grandparents in the old days too. |

My son is about the same age, he'll be back in August. Mostly he hangs out at the basketball courts and arcades. Xujiahui seems to have the best of both. We live in Pudong though, the opposite direction of Minhang, but I'll have him get in touch when he gets back with any other advice. |

Tadhgire, I don't think the legal drinking age is really inforced here. I went to Pegasus once (I'm in my mid 20s) and I felt so old, most of the kids there could not have been older than 17, some even looked 14! Not really sure what their parents are thinking but like I said, I definitely see young teenagers out and about on weekend nights.
But socially if you join an international school, you should be fine. Most of the bigger international schools organize lots of after school activities and I'm sure once you meet friends you guys can all figure out some fun stuff to do together. |

You'll not only be able to enjoy clubbing, drinking but also girls. A frient of mine's teenage brother came over for a visit and got laid for the first time with a gorgeous, young Chinese girl. After than he never looked back and is counting the days to his next trip...
Enjoy! |

You are right.......................................................
BTW remember some wise words my granpa' told me and I'm telling to my son (15y). Never look for a beautiful girl in a disco or a pub.
It's too dark and your eyes are easily confused.
When the sun rise your dream disappears!!!
My son is in South Africa now for summer campus and is coming back by August 20th. Let us know when you'll arrive here.
BTW, remember that the bad wolf is everywhere even in this website. Be careful!!!

okay hope you enjoy your stay in shanghai..but yea Pegasus/RoadJam is a popular choice for friday nights, and if you like gaming there's always Aztec in xijiahui. as for girls, many would be probably be at sticker picture venues =). theres also karaoke at KTV in gubei and indoor snowboarding somewhere. popular fast food places for teens would probably be at Subway, Taco Popos, and MoonRiver Diner |
