For AVATARS - go to the profile at the top of the forum, click profile and choose resynch with mdpro profile... it will use your mdpro site avatar ( they are integrated in this release). If you do not have an avatar in your mdpro profile.. you can choose one of the ones available. We are working out the issues to use personal avatars now..

i cant upload pictures anymore but get the following message

Upload Error: Could not upload Attachment to ././modules/MDForum/files/top.banner1.

? what's wrong ?

Whenever I hit the HOME button on the bottom corner, it brought me back to the past when Shanghaiexpat's website was different from this current one... The home address then became www.shanghaiexpat.net

It could be a temporary fault or it could be my funny connection???

I am looking at the attachments.. they have to be 200K or less.. I think maybe I just need to clean off some of the old ones.

hmm.. I am using Firefox everyday all the time. I am using 1.04. Maybe you could be more specific about what you are seeing.

sorry for this basic question but I do not have an mdpro site and am keen to choose an avatar - assuming that means image or pic- for my profile on this site: where do i look for these and how do I then upload one?.... (Just went into 'profile' and clicked 'resynch...' etc; also did google search to no avail. Do I need to visit another website to get an image for my profile perhaps?...)

I tried setting my encoding to Simplified Chinese in my browser and it seems to work.

To upload.. go to MY ACCOUNTs link on the top left hand column - yellow box - and on the next page - Change Info.. than choose an avatar.. and save it. Then come back to the forum profile and do the resync.

You should probably clear your cache in firefox or perhaps in the cache in your local firewall ( sometimes apt complexes have their own ). Also try the URL without the www. Also try holding the shift key down when you click a URL.

Hey it works on my machine in three different browsers and you are the only person to register this complaint passed the time we were doing the server move ( 3 days ago). Your cache and your firewall ( at whatever level between you and shanghaiexpat ) are not something we have any control over.

Post subject: always 'email notification' on

It's either everytime I post using the 'quick reply' at the bottom of a thread or everytime I click the 'watch this post' button, it always turns on email notifications.
I do not have "notify me when a reply is posted" checked in my profile.
I have sync'ed and saved my profile/account preferences many times.

For now, I have to edit every reply, and un-check the notify box.

I do notice as I write this, using "post reply", that the notify box is not checked. After I submit this and click 'watch topic', I'll go back in and see if notification is on.
