On the other hand AJJ, I grew up in the west (England and Canada). I can honestly say that during my childhood I heard all about the holocaust in school, in books, on tv and in the movies. I knew all about Japanese mistreadment of US POW's during the war, and the Japanese mistreatment of British POWs. However, before a couple of years ago I had never heard about the Japanese atrocities in China.

Regards, Matthew

That's because they didn't happen. It's all just lies and propaganda.

Interesting link that includes a translation of some Japanese perspectives on the Hiroshima anniversary (the original topic of Edgewood's deleted thread). It also includes some more general perspectives on atrocities during war and forgiveness.

Xinhua could learn a thing or two.

Edgewood, you have all these good historical references and then you say something rediculous like that. Of course there were Japanese atrocities in China like they did in the Philipines and Korea.

You know when I was Tokyo a few years ago I was sitting on a bench near the imperial palace. A Japanese dude, perhaps 60, came up and started talking to me. The conversation went something like this:

Him: Hi, are you american?
Me: No, I'm Canadian.
Him: Ah, we love Canadians. We hate Americans.
Me: Really?
Him: Yes, we also hate Chinese. And Koreans.

...

the conversation went on like this for some time. By the end of the conversation it was fairly apparent that actually this dude hated everyone but Japanese, and apparently Canadians. I suspect he hated Canadians too.

So Edgewood take heart, you're not the only hater out there.

You talk a good story, spyboy, even though you're obviously making it up.

But you're right about one thing, there are a lot of haters out there: 1.4 billion in this country alone.
