| Post subject: Hair Salon pep rally - brought to you by Sgt. Slaughter |
Have any of you seen those little military style drills some service places have here? The hair salon in front of my building has its staff do these chants and mock-marches every freaking morning! They're so loud I can hear them on the 31st floor, and I've seen quite a few restaurants do similar things...
What's the deal with that? I mean these are hair dressers we're talking about, and I can't see any of them going to war or anything. Don't they realise just how absurd a bunch of grown men wearing pointy court jester shoes, porcupine hair styles (played out way back in 83 I believe), and yellow aprons marking in place and chanting yi, er, san, yi, er, san like a bunch of kids playing army can be to a groggy observer??? |

I like to think they are motivated the staff for good customer service.
As I said, I like to think. |

Oh yeah! On Nan Jing Lu real early you can see it too. A way to break their character like training a horse by putting that muzzle on him. It is motivational, but I think it's to crush your heart. Also, morning excercises to prepare you for work. I used to love watchign th kids do it in the morning for school.
Does anyone know if this pre-dates Communism? Not the morning excercises. |

But if it's morning excercises then that is pretty cool. I used to love watching the kids do that. That stuff is great. As well as the afternoon pressure point massages the kids give themselves. |
