| Post subject: Air and Water Show |
It happened this weekend here in Chicago, as it does every year. The Pict and I are lucky enough to live high above Lake Michigan and get a bird's eye view from our balcony.
It was a little too exciting this year. Two of the Thunderbirds (F-16s flown by the USAF) clipped their wings and the show ended prematurely when a piece of one of the aircraft tumbled into the lake. Fortunately, no one was hurt and all six crew members returned safely to the airport in Gary.
I wish I had learned to fly. Sometimes I think I missed my true calling. Anyone else feel this way? I can see myself doing hammerheads, loops, barrel rolls . . . I can take the Gs. |

my grandfather was a WWI flying ace who saw the Red Baron in battle. he is referenced in some war books and other books for things he did after the war, like mapping the rockey mountains and canadian arctic area of the Hudson straight.
flying was no picnic in those days and most pilots in WWI had a very short lifespan.
bUt i neVer carrIed on the flying traDition. although my nephew is a pilot now. |

This is also quite curious. I can't say that "canoodled" is really part of the standard english vocabulary. I find that quite a few non-native speakers when they try to write flowery and descriptive english only end up sounding ridiculous. Stick to simpler english and you'll be much better off all around. |

Mayo, from now on when I fly my red r/c model biplane, which I haven't flown yet btw, it will be in memory of your grand father. Mine was also im WW1 but was not a pilot. My father was in WW2, but he was in tanks...
Both never said squat to me about it though |

i am not sure what battle he saw the Red Baron in but he never fought him. it was only a sighting.
you are right commando, these guys were pioneers in those early planes. he also did test flights for
the first aircraft carrier, HMS Argus. I have this very cool picture of his from his first test flight off the Argus where once he
was up in the air he turned around and snapped a photo of the flight deck.
it has been used in a few books now too. |
