I am interested in buying some sort of scooter when I move to China. Is it relatively cheap? Do you need a license? Are there lots of them in the streets?
Thanx |

They are pretty cheap, from 1200 (cheap, simple battery powered one, to 25,000 + for a petrol powered 4sk)
And there are a million of them here, you don't need a license, just jump on and go. |

Your avatar is kinda distracting, anyway you are right about the registration, but you don't need a driving license for scooter under 50cc, over 50cc it is a Motorbike, then you need a driving lience.
Correct me if I am wrong |

"F" license for up to 49cc gasoline scooters / motorbikes! above 50cc it gets a bit more costly and complicated.......

Is this 'F' license information official? Where did you find this information? How do you go about even getting the easier F license? |

What is the story with gas powered bikes/scooters anyway? I've seen on a number of occasions that new bikes cannot be bought within Shanghai 'cause they want people to use electric. |

The formatting is messed up, but that appears to be the drivers test Is this the same license required to drive a gas scooter? |

Is it possible to go from PuDong to PuXi on an electric scooter without taking the ferry? How about a gas scooter? |

gas scooter with Shanghai "A" or "B" blue license plate can use Nanpu / Yanpu bridges.
gas scooters with Shanghai "C" "D" "E" blue license plates can only use Xupu Bridge.
gas scooters with Shanghai "A" "B" yellow license plates can use Xupu, Yanpu, Nanpu bridges.
confusing , eh?!

You're a wealth of information
So electric scooters cannot use any of them I guess, nor the tunnel? |

What license do you need for driving a bigger gasoline scooter? Is it just a regular driving license? |

to be safe, try to get an "E" for all 2-wheel motorcycles, "D" for all motorcycles including sidecar.
Dilligaf
ps: "C" driving license is for car and does not include motorcycles (E/D). |
