| Post subject: apartments: Zhongshan Park, Xujiahhui station |
I made the big move to Shanghai and am not looking for an apartment (I have a relocation company's help). But, I wondered if anyone had opinions about living a little further away from the typical areas, examples:
west end of line 2, Xujiahui stop on line 1 (south), or the eastern end of line 2? I'm not sure what category of opinions I am looking for, just let me know if you have any comments on life 'out there'.

Depends on if you are alone or with partner / family, and your lifestyle.
Zhong Shan Park is very convenient in terms of location and daily shopping. Apart from the obvious subway stations (both line 2 &3), there is of course the Park for the weekend / kids. There is an outdoor shopping mall Metro Town and New World Dept Store. The biggest shopping mall in SH is being built atop the subway station which will contain a cinema, a huge book store, a department store and a large supermarket (not Carrefour). There is a lack of quality fine dining nor any bars but hey, all those are just 15 minutes away by taxi, or a couple of subway stations.
Zhangjiang is the other end of Line 2 and it's the extreme opposit of ZS Park. Basically no F&B, shopping or any other convenience. There is probably some green areas though. More industrial than residential.
Xijiahui is extremely crowded albeit central. Convenient to get things but difficult to get in / out on the road. |
