| Post subject: Refusal of Release Letter & Z Visa |
Hi all,
Have searched the site with no avail. My friend is finishing up their contract and the center is refusing to give them a release letter concerning their Z visa? What to do? Is there a company here that can change it over to an L or F visa until they get another job or must they go to Hong Kong? Major pain in the arse but part of the teaching biz, I suppose... Will add that the Z visa was issued in Beijing to work in Shanghai.
Thanks in advance! |

My goodness, i have been in this situation so many times and have, so far, never had to go to Hong Kong. Actually I was naughty in that when my center refused, I didnt cancel the Z visa, I just kept it until I got a new job then my new center dealt with extending it/getting a new one. Dont let it expire though!! Obviously..
To be honest, working as a teacher here is a pain in the ass. I even had one school keep my passport 6 months after i had left and they held the damn thing to ransom. Anyway i would recommend getting an F and keeping to it, this way you are not tied to an employer. I believe there are companies in Shangers who will post passport away to Hong Kong for a fee. Will ask my mate for details (she did it) and will then get back to you. |
