Post subject: Tax rate determined by gross salary or net of exemption?

Hi,
I've searched through many posts here and have found some wonderfully helpful information. However, I still have one question that maybe someone out there can help me with?

Is the tax rate % determined by the gross salary amount or gross salary less the 4,000rmb foreigner exemption? For me, the difference adds up to almost 900rmb over 7 months. Of course, it's not in my favor! I'm sure I remember my former employer determining the tax rate based on gross salary. But, my current employer is using the salary net of tax to determine the tax rate, which results in over 100rmb more tax each month.

Thanks!!!! Rolling Eyes

Salary less RMB4000 x Tax rate less the quick deduction figure.

RMB5,000-20,000 20% and RMB374 got QDF
RMB20,001-40,000 25% and RMB 1,375 for the QDF
RMB40,001-60,000 30% and RMB3,375 for the QDF

Those are monthly salaries above. As the exchange rate goes up and down so will the amount you pay.
